Can the white piece on the floor be removed without strc/ other problems? I cant stand the foot rest thing on the left, my feet are huge and its annoying. (sz. 16)

i don't see why it couldn't be removed. unless it is protecting something beneath the foam.

Carpets might not go down right.

^^^ i seriously doubt this. the carpet in my scion is thin and flimsy as ____. almost like paper. i figure i will be needing to replace it within the first year.

the carpet is form fitting so if you remove the styrofoam it will feel like something is missing. it can also cause premature wear because its not sitting where it suppose to.. If toyota thought i didnt belong there, they wouldnt of put it there.

They put it there expecting people with human sized feet. Damn... 16s!!!

:P I kid I kid. :P

Like Sam said, unless there's something under it that is being protected, I don't see the big deal...

It's styrofoam, it can't be doing much other than hold the carpet colored paper up...

Wearing size 17s, I can empathize. With the upright seating position, this footrest is less necessary IMO. You could carve into the foam from the side to make sure nothing is under it, then cut it all out and patch the spot with additional carpet. And then make a better mud guard as well!

If the carpet is fitted you can use a steam gun on it to lossen the adhesive and make it give up it's shape. We had to do the same thing in my dad's '69 mustange after he moved the seats back four inches.

another way to look at it is that if you have problems after removing it you can always put it back in.

yeah go ahead, you might save .1lbs after removing it, maybe it can compensate for the 300lbs of Dyno mat you put in there!

Im in Minnesota, so we dont get the scions for another week or so. I just remember in the test drives, the left foot rest was irritating.

BTW, that's my car when we were installing dynamat. The foam piece seemed pretty loose, but carpet fitment will become an issue after a while, unless you trim the carpet to compensate for the hole or something..............
