I just got a 06 xb about 3 weeks ago. I bought the box for it's ecomney so I have no intrest in go fast stuff. I want to deck it out with so heavy duty auido video gear. just looking for general advise about my plans.

Head Unit - pioneer avic-d2 like that it has reverse camera, dvd capable, can hook my ipod to it, and functions like a normal cd head unit, and most of all it has a navagation system. lastly the price about 1100 to my door.

as far as audio is concerned I know what I want but am too far out of the auido scene to know what to buy. I want 2 15" subs to fit behind the rear seats and a amp as long as my arm to power it. Last time I bougt a amp the orion xtr, rockford fosgate *ix, ppi sedonas where where it was at.

what large amps under say 500 would you suggest? keep in mind that I want to push some heavy duty 15" subs

what 15" subs do you suggest concidering the space constrants.

is the rear wiper that usless that I woln't miss it for the sake of a camera?

camera suggestions?

are the factory speakers all 6.5"?

I see alot of ground upgrade kits, would I need one for say 2 1500 watt amps?

will my little alt. be able to handle a system like this or do I need a second batery?

first off about the power issuse u only hav an 80 amp alt. just tell me how many watts u want to push and ill give u some numbers on things. it will have to be a small ported thats what id go with. find to 15's that have 750 rms. i have a 22 in amp that pushes 1500 rms @ 2 ohms. u will have to run 4 or 2 gauge in order to get those watts. furthermore @ 1500 u will need a 120-140 alt. batteries dont help its jut more for your alt to have to charge everytime the power drops

I agree.... even with a 1500 watt amp you'll need a different alternator.... batteries/caps won't help you here because there's not enough inital amperage to allow the amp to produce 1500 watts.....

 

it may look a little discouraging but it will be worth it when u get it done. and honestly i dont think u want t2o 1500 watt 15 in the back. u will blow ur gaskets on your rear window and u better have ur license black strapped down good or it will be bouncing all over the place. just like mine does i just have one 12 in a crappy box i just threw together becauce i couldnt wait for my box i ordered.

 

The Avic-d2 will not play DVDs, you can add on a rear view camera, does not come with one, you can use it as a monitor for a seperate DVD player though, also has an aux input for the ipod but I would use the Ipod addaptor which retails at $120.

 

Man have you opened a can of worms, every body will give you all the opinons you can handel! As far as your list the AVIC will work very well plus on this site some where somebody listed how to mod it to work while driving, or just add a wire into harness in empty slot. You will need to upgrade your battery and alt. at some point. Now onto your other q's 6.5" will fit in stock locations you will need to build or buy spacers for the front doors and make a mount for the rear. Speaker choices are like buying a car. GO AND TEST THEM take your own music with you. If you like bright buy bright, if your after Sound quality buy sound quality. This is simply what you like not what everybody else is doing. What i like you may not, so this is just a suggestion! For the front buy some nice two way 4" for the dash MB Quart/JL/ Heck I just put some Audiobahns in and they fit under the stock grill. Not in mine I have 6.5 on the dash. with 4" and tweet in piller. For the doors you can do a 6" component system or do a three way setup With 6 indoor 4" in dash and tweeter on the piller. In the rear 6.5' components with tweeter flushed in next to stock grille . Or you can use aftermarket grill and remove factorygrille more custom. Subs this is also very subjective area. I personally would recommend 12" subs (no flaming yes 15's will fit ) due to technology many 12" will out perform 15" plus you still need realestate for mounting you amps. For sub selection I would say listen first then buy. I personally use Atomic, there are many more JL /RE/ADAIRE/MMATS/TREO/MTX/
So Next is amps This is really going to be fun. I personally like to many amps power to size I would say the new Alpine's, your best bet would be a D class on the bass and a a/b on the rest. Once agian the list is very long Starts in the A'S and ends in Zapco. Oh Arch and Zapco make small foot print amps as well. PM with any further questions as I do not sell on this site.

 

alpine??? u can find a better amp than alpine. try hifonics jbl re orion memphis jl. they are pretty good from what i hear there are a rew more though. upgrade ur alt first. extra batteries will not work. neither will a cap nomatter how big of a cap u get. a good place to go to talk about car audio is realmofexcursion.com check it out http://realmofexcursion.com/ if theres anything u need to know ask me or tc guy.

 

The idea here is to help not to bash. If you want loud how bout our extreme car, or our street b car or well you get the idea. Car Audio is about more than just bass, yes bass may be why we first got into it. Choice is up to you th end user, and the Alpine amps are new for this year, and i dont sell them I just now the are small and stackable .So lets not jack this thread. Give him advice not just ur opinon. If I was to give my opinon It would cost to much to build .

 

I would actually reccomend Losing the rear wiper for the camera. The wiper usually ends up causing the most rattle from subs, and even in a mild system like mine, its almost unbearable.

 

This is true even in my old set up it would vibrate.

 

im also talkin about amps u power ur mids with.

 

thanks for all your input. who makes atl.'s for the scion? I guessing that I would need at least a 125 amp. what about voiding my warentee that cost me 1k

 

shop around for an alt the reason i gave u the 120 to 140 range is because ur goin to have other things in the car i know u will and u will need just a tad bit more power. just a precaution. excessive amperage is in production on making a H/O for the scion. just hit me up when u get a chance.

 

oh and if the theory on how the alt works is true then the only time it will ever get up to 120 or so is when it is being demanded but u have to get the right amp alt thats key when it comes down to the watts that ur plaining on pushing.
