Rim Damage
My wife and I ride to work together to save gas. I drive to where I work and she takes the xB from there to where she works. Well, Tuesday morning I get a call a little after 8:00am (I go to work at 7:00, she starts at 8:00) from my wife. She was backing into a parking space and hit the curb with the rim. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHH! I was so mad I couldn't help myself. I've only had the car a month and a half and she's already trashed the rim. Now there is an 8 inch scar on my rim down into the metal.
Spend the extra gas money and tell her she's no longer allowed to drive the Box.
Besides my phobia that my wife's gonna trash the lip on a curb, now you've got me worrying about my rims that aren't even mounted yet
She's afraid to drive it anyway. The one time she did, she panicked cuz there was a crack in the windshield - told her to relax, it was already there...

Before you blow up, look at the cost to replace the rim. Is that amount worth a huge fight? Do you really want her to ask the question that car guys fear the most?
"Who do you love more, me or that THING in the driveway?"
You know you don't want to answer that honestly!

PS- Vicki, if you see this, I'm just kidding, baby! I love you WAY more than any car!

Let me give you advice from a man who has been married and divorced and has a love for aftermarket parts and vehicles.
Always put your wife first......she didn't do it on purpose, and she already feels really bad about it. Making a stink with her about it will only show your insensitive and self centered and you care about the Xb more then you do her.
Again, it's a ride........not the end of the world. A couple hundred bucks compared to her feeling like you fighting and her having resentment with your ride isn't worth it. Always, always put your woman first......she is supportive of you, the ride isn't. She is there for you all the time, the ride isn't.
Hope you catch my drift...... HTH

I curb checked twice in one day(Saturday), both wheels on the passenger side. My own fault, I was ____ed of course, but only had myself to blame so it was fleeting. If someone else did it i wouldnt be happy, but your wife will hopefully outlast your car, something to think about.

Take the advise stated above!!!!!! It's just a piece of metal. So What! Nothing is more important than your better half!!!!!!
have her pay for the new one, if you are gonna replace it.
once she sees how much things cost to replace she might start driving better.
don't fight about it, it not worth it.

I don't tell my husband when I do it. I haven't done it yet in the xB (knock on wood) but I've done it in our other car and didn't tell him. Then when he finds out I always blame it on him. Then he can't get as mad because it really could have been his fault, he can't remember! LOL Thats mean huh?
Don't get mad at your wife though, it's not like she did it on purpose. I'm sure she feels really bad.
____ happens!

Forget about it as best you can. Depending on the wheel you have, you should be able to make it less obvious by blending it in by sanding using progressively finer sandpaper then metal polish. Have her help you fix it. A part on a car isn't ever worth fighting about, Having her help you fix it would be all you need to get your point across, and as a bonus, you'll be spending time together.

Be nice
Make a joke about it and put curb feelers on
Just wait til you scrape or bend when shes in the car
Oh and Don't let her find out you took an internet poll on whether or not she has to pay for them or get yelled at. Little Dr. Phil for ya

its normal to get mad the first time you heard about it, but you have to regain you thoughts that its just a wheel, its just a car. how pathetic you can be if your world revolve around your car.
what would be the difference of her paying it or you paying it? you guys are married, your money is her's and vice-versa. i've scuffed my rims already, it does ____ you off but then again they are just rims, they can be fixed.
Thanks everyone! I didn't thrash my wife. After the initial shock I was fine. She's was more worried about it than I was. It is a pretty bad mark about 8 inches long and through the paint into the metal (aluminum has no chance against concrete). We are going to buy a replacement rim soon.
I put this poll up to see what type of reaction I'd get. I think most of the people here are really into their cars and I wanted to know just how much. I'm glad to see that you are very family oriented. I'm very proud to be a part of the Scion family with such fine people as you. There is still hope for the world.
