View Full Version : Sensa-Trac's Back order
KenzokuXB 04-05-2006, 05:02 PM After major debating I have finally chosen to mate my S-Techs with Monroe sensa-trac shocks/struts. Well to my suprise all the part stores around my area (Vallejo, Northern Cali) are currently on a two week back order. WTF??? Anyone else having this issue??
dmxsoulja3 04-05-2006, 07:03 PM Since any echo shock/strut should work, maybe someone will have some KYB GR-2's in stock? I noticed on ebay they can be had for under 200 shipped and I 've always had good luck with those on civics and such I've had in the past.
KenzokuXB 04-05-2006, 08:25 PM Aren't the rear shocks already KYB?
dmxsoulja3 04-05-2006, 08:33 PM If they are, they aren't GR-2's which are a more performance based setup. I didnt take note when I lowered my box, however I plan on getting the GR-2s and swapping them on once the stockers get wasted.
KenzokuXB 04-05-2006, 08:41 PM Which probably won't take long! I've never used KYB's always Tokico's. Let me know how the ride feels with the GR-2's. Are those the white KYB's??
dmxsoulja3 04-05-2006, 09:26 PM They are Silver, well the ones I've always had were Silver with red writing. They weren't to stiff on the civic and the sensa trac's make me think of like a family van setup. So i'm hoping the GR2's will be a good mix of performance and ride comfort
KenzokuXB 04-05-2006, 10:18 PM Yeah, reading all the post about the sensa tracs made feel as if the ride would be way to soft. I really have to look into these KYB's you are talking about, like I said before I never ran them on any of my honda's. Do they ride the same as Tokico's?
dexter_5000 04-05-2006, 10:34 PM kyb gr-2 are just a stock replacement thats they'll warranty up to 1" drop on thats it. they do tend to be better but aren't designed for really harsh drops.
KenzokuXB 04-05-2006, 10:51 PM So basically I would be wasting my money buying the sensa-tracs since my drop is 1.6 and 1.7 respectively (STechs).
whaler 04-05-2006, 10:58 PM If you don't mind ordering them online, I ordered a set today from rockauto.com at a decent price.

I am very happy with my rears on Hotchkis.
The local Advance had them on backorder, with an undetermined arrival date. The local NAPA had them for me the next day.
I tried shockwarehouse.com. I will not be using them again.
M-Flo 04-06-2006, 02:10 AM I have gone from stock > Tanabe DF210 > Coilovers
Now I'm back to S-techs and monroes and the ride is better. You will still feel the bumps as with all lowering springs, but larger bumps are much more tamer easier to drive over.
Monroes are considerably better than stocks, especially in the rear. Also remember to cut the front bump stops when installing the s-techs as it will make a big difference in ride quality.
KenzokuXB 04-06-2006, 06:02 AM M-Flo it says you stay out here in the bay area. You think if I pick up these shocks you will be able to help a fellow bay area brother out??
KenzokuXB 04-06-2006, 06:33 PM MAX- You running sensa-tracs on all four corners of your box?

Just the rear and it helped immensely.
saronian 04-09-2006, 05:48 PM I ordered Monroe's from ShockWarehouse.com on 3/30 and they were drop shipped from the warehouse in Arkansas on 4/3. I received them in Oakland 4 days later.
Cost was very good, $174.50 with free shipping, minus $50 rebate = $124.50!
BTW - The rear shocks are made in Belgium and the front struts are made in Spain.
Sciond 04-10-2006, 12:54 AM tenabe df210's and monroes on the rear.. very happy so far
vintage42 04-10-2006, 02:28 AM I ordered Monroe's... The rear shocks are made in Belgium and the front struts are made in Spain.
And I bet the word Tenneco is what appears on the items, with Monroe only appearing on the boxes. My SensaTracs came in NAPA boxes, but the items were Tenneco, made in those countries. Monroe and NAPA are just brands for Tenneco.

Tenneco owns the Monroe brand and NAPA is their largest aftermarket customer. The shocks & struts from NAPA are the same as Monroe's, but the rebate specfies a receipt listing Monroe products.

NAPA gave me a SensaTrac reward flyer similar to the Monroe flyer:
http://www.monroe.com/promo/promotions.asp
I was confused by the terms of the rebate so I called the number on the form you fill out. It was a Tenneco number. They said I would get a $50 "Comeback Certificate for future purchases at any NAPA store, not a cash rebate.
I imagine Monroe's "Comeback Certificate" is the same.
saronian 04-10-2006, 04:52 PM Sounds like they are exactly the same. The NAPA promotion is good to note since the parts are widely available.
KenzokuXB 04-14-2006, 10:35 PM Saronian- Are you running Sensa tracs on all four corners??
