Default Danger in Lowering the tC?? (trd...) Price??

I'm contemplating having my BSP tc lowered using the trd springs. I'm probably just gonna have the dealership do it. First, has anybody had their's done at the dealership? If so, what price total after installation and actual purchase?

2nd, I've had low cars in the past and as an unexperienced driver, I would always pull into spots too far or bottom out and end up cracking the front spoiler or scuffing it up. Has anybody had this problem with a TRD lowered tC? Is it really THAT much lower than the standard or just minimally? Thanks for the help

TRD springs installed at the dealer is expensive, expect around a 400-500 price for springs + installation.

The TRD isnt really much of a drop, you shouldnt hit most parking lot stop blocks. I'm riding on s-techs, this is my first lowered car, had no problem adjusting to the lower ride height.

Yeah dude, dont do it from the dealer. Also, do you really want the TRD springs?? there are some springs that cost less and better like teins s-tech...or better yet go with coilovers so you can adjust heights of car. Its hard to do the installation on your own specially if tools are limited, like mines. so i had the shop install it for $150.

I used to have an iroc z and i lowered it abou two inches. that night, i went over my first speed bump and my muffler came off................. ..............that's not to say that lowering you ride is bad! i'm not telling you not to, i'm just saying that you might have to be a little more careful with it. if your not willing to, then don't.........some people are gonna say that they did it, and they didn't have a problem, but those are the kind of prople that either don't care, or have the $ to fix it!
Like i said.........i'm NOT telling you not to. I'm just saying be careful. good luck!

hey Spect2K3, I'm putting my TRD springs on this weekend and I'll let you know how the install is afterwards. If you still caqn't find a place around you cheap enough, NY isn't that far away from CT, we could meet up and I'll give you a hand.

Yea dude, I'd appreciate that. Funny thing is, I spend a lot of time on the weekend in Connecticut b/c that is where my dad lives...Norwalk area. Lemme know how it goes cuz not having to pay the $300 dealer installation fee would be a load off of my chest! ($300 is the cheapest that I've found so far, and that is from the dealership, private places are charging me more thus far).

lol you're just like my bf, you pull into a parking spot like you're all bad ___...and then what?! you scrape your bumper. Guys are hilarious. I like the look of a more aggressive drop (TRD's isn't that significant) and I won't lie, I fear scraping my bumper, but I have yet (knock on wood). Just be careful when you pull in a spot.

That's too much. My dealer where I bought the car charges a flat rate of $200 for the install. They charged $199 for the TRD springs, so my total cost was $399.

As for the ride, the TRD spring rates are 18% greater in front and 26% stiffer in the rear, compared to the stock springs. No issues with bottoming or anything major, but the ride is noticeably rougher than stock, although it's still acceptable. Of course the 28mm front and 33mm rear drop really help the car's appearance.

Man, it seems that west coast dealers charge a heck of a lot less....I called numerous dealers...I'm talking about 12 of em. Luckily agmech seems to be able to help with the install - let's hear it for helping the new guy!

I have the trd springs - i honestly dont know if there are better springs for less money but what I do know is that this is the least drop you can get ...and if you are worried about bottoming out ..... TRD is the way you want to go. I wouldnt want my car any lower then what it is. People look at the car and like it and dont even know its lowered. People that look at pretty much every other scion on the road says they are ugly. get my drift?
