After reading posts on this forum, I've about decided to opt out of the Scion Security System. I'm looking at a $250 Viper system at Best Buy that seems to do everything that the $500 Scion System does. I'm assuming I won't get a Scion key fob if I don't get the Scion Security System. Is that true? If so, will it decrease the resale value of my Scion by making it less authentic?

Alarms do not change the resale value when you trade your car in. Just dont become a Pizza delivery man I heard that can mess with your trade in value. Haha

Well, I don't know about the resale value since these cars are still relatively new and even then I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping mine for a long time. If you don't get the Scion Security doesn't it still come with keyless entry? Then you would have to get the Scion fob, I believe.

Also, I have to tell you that there is an upgrade available for the the Scion Security to get tuneable shock sensing and remote start (I just got this so, I want to share... :D ) from Luxury MotorWorks. Works great and, and it totally works with the factory keyfob, looks stock and installs clean.
