Default Dash Applique screwed me over....HELP!!!

First off, sorry if this is a repeat but, i was crusin around the tech section only to find all the possibilities for dash mods where impossible....for me. Turns out that the 200 and whatever dollars worth of simulated carbon fiber appliques that came with my xb whould create a huge protective barrier to any internal dash components. So i was wondering if anyone has any experience with this and could help me out. I really dont feel like throwing away 200 bucks as i am poor enough as it is, but any suggestions or advice as to removing the center console or completeing these dash mods or how to remove the dash or anything that would help would be appriciated.

Thanks,
alex
p.s.
PLEASE HELP ME I BEG OF YOU!

Any dash mods pose a problem. As the dealer installed applique covers the entire center console and does not allow for removal of its sections(I think?) such as the a/c controls as it is all covered.

I wanted to do the console lighting mod and change the color to red. Appriciate the help, sorry for the confusion.
sorry...cam phone

I believe you are incorrect here. You should still be able to remove the cover/console to replace the bulbs with LEDs. The entire center piece is just that - one piece. The silver sides and the center black part are all the same piece.

See this tech article for some help with removing the bezel:

It's a carbon fiber overlay. Granted it's a perfect fit but it's not worth the money. I would have rather gone without and painted the pieces white. The set includes the center dash piece, the ring around the gear shifter and the two front window control switches. Not sure why but they don't include the rear window switches.

Personally i love the look it gives the dash. The standard silver color is to overcoming to the rest of the black dash. I was crusin around my scion dealer and found a black over lay that looks good too.
