Default painting over reflector area on inside of taillights?

i'm days away from redding out my taillights. i already have them cracked open. i'm just waiting on the paint to arrive. i'm wondering if anyone could tell me that the area where the reflector shows through on the clear lense can be painted over? if clarification is needed as to what i mean feel free to let me know. thanks.

As long as you have another red reflector for each tail located on the back of the box no lower than 14" (check the state laws), you should be fine and not have to worry about the cops. Otherwise, it's not legal.

Some have done it and it looks fine. I left mine clear for good reflection.

I painted mine with smoke paint it as well as removing the reflector and smoking behind the clear red (make it darker) still reflects fine and looks awesome.
