Default Exhaust Leak!!! Any Sugestions

Well I just installed my AW header and CC s-pipe, now i have a exhaust leak where the header flange meets the spipe. Im thinking the stock spring bolts do not have enough tension to seal this area. The bolts are completely tight and not crooked and are through the spipe because we had to drill them out alittle. Has anyone had to just use some normal bolts to seal it up insted of the spring bolts? and yes it has the exhaust gasket on the header. So any sugestions or if you did this let me know. Thanks

andy

I had the same deal with mine and ended up using some Ultra Copper gasket maker on the donut gasket and some washers on the s-pipe flange to keep the bolts from bottoming out on the header flange. No leaks for about 6 months now.

Ok I see but what do you mean washers to keep them from bottoming out?, you mean where the spring washers are supose to go throught the spipe so what you did was make it so they didnt? so it would squeeze it more.

Actaully the washers should keep the part of the bolts with the lip from going through the s-pipe flange. Those make the bolts bottom out on the header flange which menas you wont be able to go any tighter. The washers will keep those lips from bottoming out letting you tighten them up quite a bit more to help eliminate the leak.

I was told by CC to use M10 bolts and not use the spring bolts. I bought 2 M10 1.50" bolts with washers. Seems to work good so far.
