Default Help installing avic-z1

I just ordered the avic-z1 but I need some help before I start to install it.
DO i need an instal kit? The screen is slightly larger at 7 inchs so do I need to cover the gap on the sides? Is there a bypass for the dvd feature? THank in advance guys

i hear the pioneer bypass is really difficult and some have already ruined the units trying to bypass it. Word from a guy with a high-end audio store...bypassing yourself might be a bad idea.

You dont have to use a dash kit, but you will have gaps on the side of the radio they maybe small gaps since your radio is bigger but still they will still be present, see the link below for the dashkit you can use. As for the bypass, like Miss Supernova said it is a not an easy undertaking bypassing the safey features. I would not do it unless your %100 sure you know what your doing or you could damage you very expensive radio.

Well I won;t attempt the dvd bypass for now. I will wait till an expert comes out with a easy way and posts it. But do u guys think the install kit from metra willl fit even though the screen is larger then the previous ones that have been out? This may be a stupid question but I have never really done work on audio stuff, most ly engine stuff.
If it does, what is the exast part number since I can't figure it out between 2 part numbers since there 2 stated for a 2005 scion tc double din.
Thanks again

Yeah I have no idea about the TC kits or openings (who moved the thread here?)...but about the bypass. I'm not sure since the z1 is brand new...but there were a few ways to bypass the n2.

I personally wouldn't try anything wiring wise...all the new pioneers 2005+ use a gyro sensor to tell when you're moving so it's not a simple handbrake switch. And even if you could you wouldn't want to bypass the gyro because the navigation would be much worse.

P.S.- I don't know the exact rules on this forum but most places this question would call for a lock bc bypassing the video lock is illegal and potentially very dangerous.

edit* whoa the thread got moved before I finished posting!
