Just wondering if I was the only one who thought that the tiburon and Tc could be twins much like the eclipse/Talon or Taurus/Sable....

Think this one has been discussed many times already on this forum. You might do a search.

the eclipse and talon are dsm machines and doesnt share the same analogy you're thinking of.

theyre 2 different chassis from 2 different manufacturers who has never had a joint design venture before, as i recall..
you might think that the taillight has a close resemblance to the tiburon's rear lights. thats the only assumption i could make from this

Yeah i Don't think the cars look the same at all personally...

the talon/eclipse/(plymouth laser) is an example of a joint venture between several companies at a single plant. Similar to the Geo(chevy) Prism and the Toyota Corolla...

The sable/taurus is more like a Camry and an ES300... same parent comany different monikers.... Lexus, Toyota... Acura, Honda... Infiniti, Nissan.

i dont see any resemblance between the tC and the tiburon except the taillights like DuMa mentioned.

I think it resembles a mini Infiniti G35. There's an index forum in here that shows the two, the resemblance is remarkable.

I want my Dark Cherry Pearl SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAAAAAD!!!

Doesn't matter, I'd much rather have the tiburon. Tiburons look badass especially with the flare kit thats out for em.

I like the Tibbys too!! Test drove the snot out of a v6, and played with a new Nissan Altima SE (3.5, v6). It's got some muscle, but no where near the options and no headroom if you have the sunroof.

Wow! I haven't seen the Tiburon til now. I didn't like them before, but this is not too bad. Haven't noticed this car in SoCal.
The sides look great. It just needs a change of face.
The radio and controls look pretty bad. Just a few looks at the details, and now I know I'm sticking with the tC.

My friend was saying the same thing about the resembelence between the cars.

Let me just say this....if the tC is anything near as bad as the Tiburon as far as headroom and visibility, I will NOT be getting it.

I'm 6'4 and I hit my head in the Tiburon even in the front seat. The back seat....well that's a complete joke. Worse than a Mustang. The doors come up extremely high, and the sidewindows are very short. I see a slight resembelance in the tC with the doors and it worries me.

I guess I'll find out.

Yeah maybe I should go get a Tiburon instead I mean come on SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much power comming out of that V6

A whole 172 HP...

Hell the Celica gets 180 out a 4 banger.....

I don't think they could be twins, but they do have SOME styling simularities.

Of course the tiburon costs about $2000 more even with the dealer rebate and thats asumming I'm getting the dealer to drop $1500 below MSRP before I get the rebate.

Of course you do get that 10 year warrenty... Like I'd be driving a Tiburon for 10 days...... Not even close to 10 years. But whatever floats your boat, I just personally don't like them

This was talked about at the Hyundai forum i post at, i really only see the tail lights being the same as already stated other then that i don’t really see any resemblance. Power and reliability wise the tc definitely wins.

Well the more I look at the Tiburon the less I hate it... but the front looks like it has bug eyes.. i don't like that. I dig the sides though....

Still like the tC better... plus 170ish HP does seem pretty lazy coming out of a V6... alot of performance mods out for the Tibby?

why on earth would anyone with comparable money to spend want to buy a hyundai? it has to be the cheapest piece of monkey crap ever made. given the choice of driving an american made ford taurus or a hyundai, i might just be forced to get around by foot power.

When i dropped by the APEXi building to say hi to my buddies and saw the car they did for hyundai for SEMA. i was like. . .cool! But lets not forget that its a 2.7 V6 pushing out a whopping 172hp! Great car, just needs a decent motor to go with it!

I mean dont get me wrong...I think the Tc is hot...I was just wondering if it was me who thought that about it. In all honesty with the xB and xA looking eccentric, I would have thought the Tc would have been more dramatic, or bold...maybe in ur face...but its still cool especially for the price and the moonroof being STANDARD.

Hell the Celica gets 180 out a 4 banger.....
181 ft-lbs of torque from the 2.7 liter V6 in the Tiburon.
130 ft-lbs of torque for the 1.8 liter I4 in the Celica.

There's your difference. That and the fact the Tiburon costs over $5,000 less.

Sounds like the opinion of someone who's never actually sat in one.

It's the weight, not the power output that makes it slightly sluggish. Dropping the weight would improve all aspects of the car, from handling to braking to acceleration.

actually i've sat in both, and they are pure crap. a friend's tiburon was constantly in and out of the shop for repairs. my parents bought a hyundai quite a while ago and spent more on repairs than the actual car itself. and the ford taurus is only a slight step up in transportation value over a broken donkey.

with that in mind, hyundai's are the biggest load of nothing that i've ever come across. if you want to spend your money on nothing, so be it, but i prefer to get more value from my dollar.

Very good, I didn't notice that. I still don't like them but my respect for them just went up a couple of notches.

Plus I only see girls driving them... Its like v6 mustangs....

I like the way the Tiburon looks, mainly because they took alot of design ideas from far high-end european cars. For its price the Tiburon comes with a good number of features and a good amount of power (it is only 100lbs more than the tC, and the v6 has 10 more hp and 20 more torque).

However, I would never buy one. The quality of the car is bad, when you touch it, it feels cheap. I have heard of people having lots of problems with them. The car is also cramped inside, especialy the back seats. And if you add a super charger to the tC then the tC will be more powerful.

Unfortunately, there are only so many looks out there, when you consider fabrication costs, material costs, and aerodynamics, lots of cars are starting to look the same, with the streamlined sweep. Even the xA has to share with what, the Matrix and Aveo IIRC. The xB breaks from that mold, which makes it so shocking to the average american. Many people forget just how boxy/squarish their cars were 20 years ago. The tC follows in the sleek sweeps that many cars have, but there are cool differences too, like the roof windows and tons of features for the price. If I knew I could fit in it, I might have waited for the tC despite the extra cost compared to the xB.

Wheres the u? Hyundai.... Hyundais are ok cars they are not great. ive had my 99 for about 2 years and it has worked fine, yes it did need some parts and such but the parts for it are cheap so it dont really matter, as long as you take care of it, it will last, im pushing 80,000 on my car right now, my tranny went at 75 and i got a new one for free.. all and all its ok for the price... even at that i dont like the new tibs myself at all..
