Steve B from Pyuallup has given us the opportunity to bring 6 cars to help represent Scion and Toyota of Puyallup in the Daffodil Parade this year.

When April 22 - all day. plan on an early start and then hitting all four parade routes

Where- we'll meet in Tacoma at the staging area

I may have spoke too soon. Of course, the first day that you put the car back together, there are no problems. Then the next day, all the problems start to arise. It probably won't be back tomorrow. Right now it's looking like probably late Sunday or sometime Monday. I'll know more later this afternoon.

Update.

I have my car back! There are a few minor (at least right now they are minor) problems that I am going to have looked at. They don't really effect me being able to drive the car though. But on Tuesday, I am taking it in to have a few things looked at. I should be able to get it ready by Saturday. So still count me in.

When and where are we meeting?

What time and where we're meeting, where we're going throughout the day...if there's a dress code (haaaaaaaaaaaahaha), will we need to pick up the decals beforehand or are they provided the day of and applied there...

and most importantly, who's modded a bbq into their scion so we can cook some stuff during the parade.

Ok - So I had to fight with my lawn yesterday to get it mowed so I didnt get as much done as I wanted but here are the basic details. I will have more up shortly.


On saturday, we all NEED to be at Scion of Puyallup NO LATER than 8:30 AM. We will prep the cars, put the stickers on and get flowers handed out at this time. We will then move as a group to downtown tacoma to start the first parade. Also at this time, we'll go over the rules etc...

First parade starts at 10:30 but as we are float number 112 out of 142, we'll be towards the back and we'll have plenty of time to talk and hang out.

After Tacoma, we'll break down, and move to Puyallup. The Puyallup parade starts at 12:45 but again, we'll be towards the back so we'll have some time etc...

After Puyallup, we'll determine if we want to go do the Sumner and Orting routes. I'm hoping we do but its up to everyone individually.

I will post more details as they become available. Also have posted the final head count on the first page. Please let me know if there are any problems.

Well I have bad news. I have way too much going on this week and I can't make the parade. My mom has been pretty ill lately and I have been driving her all over to doctors and my bro is also in the process of buying a car so I gotta help get that as well... next time there is a parade I'll see what I can do.

Just watched the TV coverage of the Scion Flotilla going through Puyallup with the parade, and they looked GOOD! The RS2 rolling in formation backwards was a nice touch. :D

Interesting that the Scions got as much coverage/attention on live TV as they did - they were tracked for longer than some floats, bands, and performing groups. Sadly, though, not one mention of the word "Scion" by the announcers. (Good visibility of the "Toyota of Puyallup" banner on each, though.)

Looked like the crowd was paying attention, too.

I wasn't at home - at a friend's house so I didn't record. It was on KSTW, Channel 11 - a two hour live coverage of the parade through Puyallup.

Possibly they will rebroadcast in the middle of the night or something? I dunno. I don't see it on the schedule any time in the future, though. :(

I missed the parade but Idid meet up with them all after the Puyallup one. Was driving by and saw them all stopped for lunch and pulled in.

Here I am at work, thank god for power naps, actually got in an hour of sleep so I feel half alive. Had a great time today, beautiful day to sit in the car and watch marching bands and Dustin running around his car with a feather boa wrapped around his neck, got to see some familiar faces that I haven't seen in a while and finally put some faces to the screen names that I've been seeing lately. Glad everyone was able to come out for Steve and put on a good showing for Puyallup Toyota. Brian, you should be able to get ahold of KSTW and request a copy of the parade, they may charge, but I know I'd like to see it. Lets see, left home at 6:30am and got back home at 8:15pm, yeah, thats a full day, will post up a couple of pics tomorrow sometime, Brian, get your pics posted, lol.

Talk about EXECUTION!!!! It went off without a hitch (for us anyway) though we seemed to be confronted with other's drama thoughout...

You guys are great to work with and I would have to put this at the top of the "fun Scion Event" list....

Dustin...the Boa was classic!!! As was the silly string incident Kakai...

Lets not forget the 80's music duel at the Puyallup staging area, Ronald McDonald on the Segway, and last but not least... the EVIL clowns (they were truly spawn of the devil) The magician... at 2121...I could go on..... it was crazy fun!!

i haven't had that much fun in forever....It was AWESOME!

one of the patrons of the 2121 asked us about the cars... he was at the puyallup parade... was very impressed with them..
waitress was also impressed with them too... then again i guess she met Steve before and test drove one

hmm.. i realized today on the way to work i still need to remove the "toyota of puyallup" decal from my windshield....

I went to church yesterday advertising Toyota of Puyallup LOL

I never saw Dustin so happy as in that parade.

I truly believe we need to parade around Bremerton for our next meet and greet and practice our precision car maneuvers :rofl:

Seriously it was a blast and at first I was too cool to wave until some wide eyed kid looked up at me waving that little hand back and forth... From that point on I was all wax on wax off :ttth:

Well, obviously, it was going <===> that way... :)

(Running the RS2 down the street backwards was a nice touch, Steve, in the TV coverage it really stood out, so I can imagine it had good effect on the crowd, too. Hmmmmmm... Just realized I never got any response back from Channel Eleven about availability of the tape...)

FINALLY got a response from Channel Eleven...
Regretfully, we do not plan to re-televise the Parade and we also are
unable to provide tapes. I've spoken with the Daffodil Assoc. and they
are unable to provide tapes as well.

However, there is the possibility that Comcast may re-televise it "on
demand", but I have no confirmation of that as of this correspondence.
If I hear of anything, I will let you know.
