quick question about the DOODAD... why not just pay the $260 for the iPod radio for your scion? are you NOT using a stock radio?

The "doodad" sucks. I had a 2005 base radio that did not have the ipod connect feature. So I had to get the 2006 Head unit first. However the ex-wife is now taking almost a 1/3 of my paycheck so, $260 is more then I can afford. All I need are the wires that run from the head unit to the ipod and I should be up and running.
But, of course, there is some debate on how that will work anyhow. I was told by Toyota Tech that the 2006 head unit would not work in a 2005. and it does. I just wish someone could help me with this. Instead I just get shot down over and over again. It shouldn't be this hard.
