iv been searching and found nothing, a while back i saw a post that explained how someone opened their tails, and made a custom led job. I have an extra set of tails, and i cant figure out how to open them. Can someone direct me in the right direction??

Hmmm.. never played around with them... but I'm pretty sure you'd have to bake them...

well i tried the headlight method on them and it failed.. lol the taillight melted. The red/clear cover that i was trying to remove just melted and sank in.. i did it at 250 -- for about 15 min.. and even with it all melted it still wouldnt open... so thats out.

How'd you do it? it's not just throw it in and such...

Never in a gas oven, never on broil, the oven must be preheated, it shouldn't be above 250, it should be on a cookie sheet, with something cushining it from the direct heat of the sheet, like a folded cloth or something... and you should watch it every second, unless you've run it before.

I've heated up two sets of headlights multiple times with not an issue in the world... would be totally surprised if the tails were much different.

I'm fairly sure they're molded together and can only be opened by cutting the front from the back. I guess wait a day to see if anyone has any other ideas, if not take a dremel with a cutting disc to them and cut far enough back that the incision wont be visible once reinstalled.

Here's the post your were looking for...you def have to dremel them open, the baking technique doesn't work...but I guess you found out the hard way. Go to a junkyard or look online and I'm sure you can find another set for under $100. G/L man! [/url]

I wouldn't think baking the tails would be a good idea. The headlights are meant to be able to withstand higher temperatures because the lamps get pretty hot when they are run for hours at a time. Brake lights are intermittant with full power going to the bulbs only when you hit the brakes. They may be warm when you have your lights turned on, but I highly doubt they get anywhere close to the temperature the headlights get.

If you plan on extending the wires from the truck module, where are you going to put the circuit board?
