Default Dash/Door Speakers - Are they wired in Series or Parallel?

I'm lookin to replace them & was looking for a 4Ohm total load for the front channel, but what I need to know is, if I use the stock wiring & 4 ohm speaker at both locations, will it be a 2 ohm load or an 8 ohm load to the HU?

Thanks, Dave

(Yes I did search, & got nothing this specfic)

EDIT: Fixed ohms

Theyre wired independantly, so hooking up speakers in the dash will still present a 4 ohm, and the doors will still be a 4 ohm. They're seperate from each other.

I think that's what u were asking for, i'm tired.

if your asking to hook up the speakers in parrel or seires i wouldn't because it will give you a 2 or 8 ohm load in mono per channel what you need is crossover that you wire both the speakers off

The front door and front dash speakers are wired in parallel. This from the factory wiring diagram and confirmed by observation.

The front dash tweeter is marked for 13 ohms and has a capacitor soldered on, which is the closest thing to a crossover in the whole setup. Therefore it doesn't really effect the impedance of the whole front speaker circuit.

As others have mentioned, if you simply replace the speakers w/o adding a crossover you could end up with a 2 ohm load.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. That is the Info I needed, I'll be just replacing the Door speakers & removing the Dash Speakers.

Thanks again, Dave.

That's what I'll end up doing, but I'll wire those.

I'm flip-flopping between dome tweeters in the door handles and dome tweeters in the A-pillars ... I'm also thinking about tweeters in the C-pillars (is that what they're called?). This is tough ... I can't decide ...

Yeah, I'm actually gonna try to make tweeter pods out of the speaker grills in the dash.

Pillars go higher a letter as you go back, so the C-Pillar is right at the rear seat, I've seen some on the D-Pillars, Jesterchild187 has them. I was thinking about those too.

how 'bout this? http://www.jlaudio.com/evolution/XR653CS.html#
6.5" mid-bass/woofer
4" midrange

takes care of factory openings
now all you have left to do is find a place for the 1" tweets.

i don't know if these are "drop in" or if you might have to do some trimming/fab work & they're kinda spendy @ $350 plus
