Default Something funny that happened to me today

So I was driving to work early this morning, and I happened to be stopped at a red light, when a BCP xB pulled up along side of me. Behind the wheel was an at least 75 year old man, with his wife. They both leaned over and gave me the thumbs up! The light turned green and they took off faster than I did.

Thought you guys might get a kick out of that.

I was driving around the other day, and saw a silver xA at the light and pulled up to it and there was a hot chick drivin it and I gave her a nod. Then, later that day I pull up to a BCP xA at a light, and I see an old lady driving who had to be atleast 80. She had white hair, the big virtual reality sunglasses and the whole bit. Just goes to show you the mass appeal of our cars is not just restricted to the gen x/y age group!

Did you get her number?
I'm sorry if that comment leaves you scarred for life. I didn't mean for it to

Anyway, I was taking things out of my trunk in Queens (NYC) this past weekend when some dude RUSHES UP TO ME FROM BEHIND (like he was going to rob me) and says "HEY! HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR THAT CAR? WHAT OPTIONS? HOW IS IT? DO YOU LIKE IT" etc etc etc... Luckily I controlled my reflexes and didnt elbow him in the gut as he approached. the xBs are awesome - everyone wonders what the hell it is and how much it costs. Everyone says it's a cool looking truck! Only the owners know that it's not a truck!

Well, with gas at $2.63 a gallon, I'm not interested in racing a Grandpa.

Years don't change motorheads.

Sorry, but when you say "motorheads", all I can think of is 1970's muscle cars. If that 75 year old man was a motorhead, I'd see him in a Dodge Charger R/T. Just saying.

Most of the people I see driving XBs around here are over 40 years old. I am 75 years, 2 months and 27 days, and if you and I are at a stoplight, you aren't going to see anything but my tail lights. I have a center arm rest so can I shift with my finger tips, and you better stay out of my way.

That's one of the main things I like about the xB. The fact that it really does look like a mini truck in the front.

I've decided IF and WHEN I get mine, I will try as hard as I can to go 100% mini truck style with my mods. I know it'll be hard not to put some tuner mods in there, but I really want the mini truck look so bad. Billet grille, LONG shifter, Iron Cross Rearview.

I've actually even ordered catalogs from shops that specialize in mini truck parts to accomplish this.

Sorry... didn't mean to jack your thread... just thought I'd share my POV on that comment.

He has had time to have owned MGs, Jags or Healeys, Vettes, GTOs or Charger R/Ts. From his thumbs up salute and fast take off, he likey came from a background like that. But at his age, an xB makes more sense than an R/T.

There's an 85 year old near me. In his big garage is a 1952 MG covered with racing stickers. He won his class at Lime Rock with it back then. After that he owned our city's British sports car dealership for twenty years. Still fools around with cars and engines and motorcycles. I doubt he ever owned an American muscle car, but surely he's a motorhead.

I love it!, my neighbor just turned 82 and his new car is a BMW M3, He always brags about dusting younger folk at the stoplights. I think it is pretty cool to see the 70 and up crowd are still having fun. We will all be there before we know it.

That's the worse thing in my area, 90% of Scion owners are OVER 60 years old. And to think, I "felt" old LOVIN them, since they were geared for 18-30 year olds, lol.

To be honest, I'm afraid of the day when SCION stops targeting younger car buyers. Latest I read was the average Scion customer is 35 (Does anyone have any recent statistics or know if the 35 is for purchaser or driver?).

2005 Article from the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/03/au...rssnyt&emc=rss

We'll know it's all over when the TV advertisements change. The ambient house music will be gone. Industrial backgrounds will morph into non-descript suburban neighborhoods. And it'll be soccer mom's and blue hairs.

No offense meant to any blue hairs reading this.

The fact is that the econobox is an economic alternative not just for the youth, but for every other financial concious driver. Just look at the Matrix/Vibe/PT Cruiser/Element. All targeted at youth drivers.

So does a 75 yo man peeling out mean that the xB will suffer the same fate? Predictions? Is it already there?
