Default is pully swap bad for car?

It sounds great - an extra 9ish hp just by changing your water and alternator pully ... but how good is this for your car? Please only leave feedback if you are 100% sure of your answer. Thanks for your help guys.

i have experience with a pulley swap on a mustang it did fine on the temp wise i never really seen a change, but the alternator didn't charge at low rpm or idle.

im wondering if changing out the water pump and alternator pully (just those 2) is going to increase the performance of the car.

i think its ZPI makes just a crank pulley that is usually the one that you replace(as far as i know) i can't really say for sure if changing if changing the alternator and the water pump would really do much. I know most kits sell the crank pulley and some of the better ones for other cars i have seen replace them all but then your talkin so major cash for a small amount of power. one thing you could do is find out if you can remove the airconditioner and the power steering but the your giving up driveability, but that show make a bigger number on the dyno

from what i heard from the guys at NST, its about the crank pulley, the accessory pullies help out, but you cannot really do those with out the other, as for the battery charging i hear with the Tc that is a very very rare problem, you would have to be running a smassive stereo to get the alternator to not work right, and not charge the battery with the pullies, im installing mine this weekend... WEEEEEEEEE!

260 for a new set of pullies, install yourself nets you around 10 wheel horsepower. that's 26 dollars per horsepower.

the supercharger, plus installation/reflash i'd say on a good day goes for say 3500 bucks. that mod will net you 60 wheel horsepower or so. that comes out to ~58 dollars per horsepower.

I guess pullies don't look all that bad now eh?

if it does start giving you problems, try running 1/0 gauge wire from the chassis ground point to the negative terminal, positive terminal to the alternator, and then the engine block to the chassis. doing this will help completely ground everything out and help eliminate dimming that you might see. if that doesnt work, you might want to think about a high output alternator and/or new/2nd battery.

The question has been hammered out many times before... please search for Crank Pulley Harmonics and you'll get everything you need and a ton of things you don''t.
