Besides turbo is there a site that tells how much horsepower gains you get from upgrades like pulleys, intakes, spark plugs, exhaust kits, etc. just trying to price and add up hp gains before I purchase any parts...

View Full Version : horse power increases from accessories... tckurt 06-01-2004, 12:55 AM Besides turbo is there a site that tells how much horsepower gains you get from upgrades like pulleys, intakes, spark plugs, exhaust kits, etc. just trying to price and add up hp gains before I purchase any parts... jatt 06-01-2004, 01:14 AM it would be differnt from each application, and im sure people would like to see dyno charts. not just theories. at least i would. kdanie 06-01-2004, 11:26 PM Don't fall for the "PEEP" idea that an intake will give you 4hp, the header will give you 5hp and an exhaust will give another 4hp.... that makes a 13hp increase right?? NOT true, as one of the tuner magazines recently found out on an xB.... With a header, intake and exhaust and testing after each installation it doesn't add up. I think they added less than 8hp for over $1000 in parts. I don't remember the mag, I threw it away in disgust! Search farther down the posts to find the thread. ken showpaojoe 06-01-2004, 11:28 PM intake- 4hp headers- 1hp exhaust- 1hp (i think it was an axle back) BlueBox 06-01-2004, 11:50 PM i don't know about u guys...but i have K&N typhoon on my xB and it kick ___~ i definitely feel the extra push and the exhaust helps too. here's the DYNO for the xB from K&N .. 8.5HP gain from the intake! http://www.knfilter.com/typhoon/images/69-8605IconB.jpg http://www.knfilter.com/images/typhoon/69-6020ALL.jpg http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/69-8605TP.jpg Besk_one 06-02-2004, 12:02 AM not this thread again... hahaha! http://spfr.com/images/dyno/stock_intake_compare.jpg 5.6hp gain - and these dyno runs were done on the same day, on the same car, 1 hour apart :P - I really gotta coordinate with Adrian about the Scion Evo Dyno Day BBQ... in fact i'm gonna PM him right now, there are some summertime weekends coming up where there are no shows that would be perfect! - Brian 06-02-2004, 05:06 AM manifold back system alone!! No intake or anything else. well, 18inch rims. http://www.scionlife.com/regimg/10134/extrapics%20165.jpg MazdaMike 06-03-2004, 09:13 PM i picked up this car last week definatly slow but what do u expect, i too am looking at things to throw some pep in my pimp but nothing will increase the horsepower that much. the typhoon intake your talking about is 2 piece, i wanna pick that one up but is it the same kit as the one sold on hopupracing.com? And for clarification it's actually a one piece intake pipe with filter cone w/ sleeve. personally...it's the best "working" intake out there besides injen. U do feel the extra HP... WagenMaster 06-03-2004, 09:35 PM Who cares about hp? It's torque that you want and that will make a difference. I'd look around for what items gives you the most added torque, and hp will of course go up slightly with those items as well. 06-04-2004, 04:28 AM Who cares about hp? Didn't you notice tha torque increase on my dyno sheet? Its the same increase as the HP. :D TheRedBox 06-05-2004, 12:14 AM Besides turbo is there a site that tells how much horsepower gains you get from upgrades like pulleys, intakes, spark plugs, exhaust kits, etc. just trying to price and add up hp gains before I purchase any parts... if you're looking for bang for buck. Just hold out until someone makes a good quality high HP turbo, or wait for a company to finish some motor swap kits. Everything else in NOT worth the $$ in my opinion. |
