S/C or NO S/C - Header or NO Header - Jeze
Im still up in the air with what I should do. Should I get the header and put the supercharger on hold for another year and kick back till next year or get the S/C and forget the header (because of the warranty issue)? I honestly do not know what I want to do. Money wise the header is a good thing because the MMW header is only $550 which will leave me more money in the bank. But am I going to be happy with the power of just the header? .... on the other hand .... am I going to even be happy with the power of the supercharger? I hear many people had and many people sad about both options. Ugh - and I still havent made up my mind because im really not sure which direction I shold be going in. Between gas and the few thousand saved (by not getting the s/c) it sounds like a better idea. But I would like more power.
i would jus get the header for now...
you will never be happy with the amount of hp you have. .. EVER
but its up to you, if i had the money to buy both i would, but then they conflict with each other, so plan your mods and see where they fall in your list

jwaggz...
it all comes down to what you want your car for. Reliable daily driver with some giddyup that'll surprise a lot of people including yourself? Or a car you want to keep making mods to in order to get every pony you can out of it?
I can only speak for myself. I am fairly conservative. I wanted to get more WHP and had the opportunity to get it with the full warranty of Scion.... So I did not think the ~ $60/whp price tag was bad (I am assuming I realized about a 65 whp gain... it does feel like it anyway... but I will not know for sure until its dyno'd). In fact, I thought it was a bargain.
If you are not as concerned about the potential of a dispute (that you HAVE to be prepared for when you make after market mods... i.e., header, CAI, turbo), then a header is a nice start that you can build on...
There is no right or wrong answer here. Since you mention price as being a point of concern, however, I would bet you would be more comfotable saving for the SC and getting it, than modding it over the next year or two and having to face repair costs on your own IF something does run a muck.
Just my $0.02.
As for me.... SC!
