View Full Version : ebay projectors are dangerous and they suck
XBRachel 04-25-2006, 04:20 PM Judge for yourself. They have been on less than a week and our first rain today.
One light went out due to the water.
Also, I felt the black housing after having them one for about 30 minutes. The plastic felt mushy and soft and very hot over the projector part

comming off ASAP.
Bsbox 04-25-2006, 04:28 PM That sucks. The look nice but obviously they suck. I guess not all of them do that but......
Anyway i would go back to stock.
CHPRBOX8 04-25-2006, 04:31 PM sorry about that but i would stay away from ebay crap because most of the stuff their is just that crap. if i were you i would stick with shops and dealers not ebay
NCBOX 04-25-2006, 05:08 PM I got mine from K2 motor and I like them no probs
brownKIDDnate 04-25-2006, 05:12 PM the thing about ebay is that yeah you can get the same product of the same brand for less the price, but the quality is crap like grade d or f. always ask the seller if the product is new from the factory or been sitting around for a while
XBRachel 04-25-2006, 05:46 PM I got mine from K2 motor and I like them no probs
have you been in the rain for a while
punksterz626 04-25-2006, 07:19 PM I got mine from K2, and mine is fogging up but not bad like that. Guess i'll have to wait till a storm before i can judge.
Edzone_xB 04-25-2006, 07:32 PM I got some from ebay also. As soon as I saw the moisture inside, I removed the headlights ans sealed them with clear silicone and now it is fine.

XBRachel 04-25-2006, 07:33 PM My dad and brother just got them off.
THey said they are junk...the seals have voids everywhere.
Also one more thing, the clear lens on these are not lexan, but a cheap plastic. My dad has been in car repair and restoation for a long says, they will yellow in a year from the sun.
Good quality head lights from the factory are pressure tested for leaks.
These have no quality control about them at all. I WILL SEND THEM BACK.
NCBOX 04-25-2006, 09:01 PM To answer you qusetion yes last week it rained so much I had to pull off and wait a few minutes for the storm to pass on and no fog when I got home. By the way sorry that yours messed up I would be ____ed.
turboxB 04-25-2006, 10:24 PM I bought my projectors on ebay also. I haven't had any problems with getting fogged up. When I bought them I opened them up to replace the OEM color led's and resealed it though. I would do the same if you are unsatisfied with them. Remember it's never too late, but yes it is a pain in the cornhole.
hayalex6 04-25-2006, 10:57 PM Almost every ebay projector has the fogging issue.
Which is why, if you searched, people have had the same problem that you've had, but fixed it by resealing.
Hmmmm. I have these same lights, from eBay, and I have not had the fogging issues or the aim issues others are having. I did check mine prior to installing and the seals were fine.
I guess I got lucky.
XBRachel 04-25-2006, 11:46 PM Hmmmm. I have these same lights, from eBay, and I have not had the fogging issues or the aim issues others are having. I did check mine prior to installing and the seals were fine.
I guess I got lucky.
Max, were you ever in a rain down pour. I am so disappointed.
I got my oem back on and went out in the rain...no fogging.
I may have a crappy early batch from a crappy ebay seller
if i don't get my money back, I will broadcast this ebay seller to sold them here
Max, were you ever in a rain down pour.
Yes, quite a few. Bad snowstorm as well. Two weekends ago driving through central IL, The traffic on the interstate I was travelling on came to a stop several times due to rain alone. When stopped I could still see no further than a couple cars in front of me. It was the worst weather I have ever driven through in any vehicle and guess what... no fogging!
They did once develop some very slight fog, but that was when a slushy mix of snow was piled against them. When I removed the slush, the fog disappeared immediately.
Sorry about your luck.
dugzilla 04-26-2006, 02:17 AM I had my ebay projectors on for about a year and never had any fogging issues. I live near Seattle and it rains a lot. ebay has been good to me, just have to do a little research and be careful.
keoki 04-26-2006, 03:13 AM sorry to hear about your lights. did you check to see if they had a warranty?
XBRachel 04-26-2006, 11:11 AM I had my ebay projectors on for about a year and never had any fogging issues. I live near Seattle and it rains a lot. ebay has been good to me, just have to do a little research and be careful.
I see you don't have the same ones I do.
what bulbs does yours take
dugzilla 04-26-2006, 11:13 AM they took the 9006 for low beam, never changed the high.
XBRachel 04-26-2006, 11:19 AM they took the 9006 for low beam, never changed the high.
Should I try these
post a picture on here of yours
dugzilla 04-26-2006, 12:45 PM here you go, I don't know if I just got lucky with the projectors I got, I think so. The housing wasn't all that great, the same mounting bracket on each light was broken in shipping. I didn't send it back because they were not too expensive and I didn't want to bother with returning them and getting the next set back broken.

XBRachel 04-26-2006, 12:56 PM were they cheaply made? fit and finsih
dugzilla 04-26-2006, 01:08 PM The fit was fine, but the quality was what I paid for, a cheap aftermarket set of headlights.
Bsbox 05-05-2006, 05:04 PM I found out that the lights in question have adjustable air vents in the back. Perhaps they were loose. Ya know, i would go ahead and seal up any seam before installing them. This is kind of a hit and miss problem with those who have them. I would double check the seals no matter where you buy them.
BangorXB 05-05-2006, 06:55 PM i have the same ones as xbrachel and max and have very minimal fogging issues when it rains. and yes i have been in heavy rainfall with them. the fogging issue like i said is very minimal, but i am going to reseal them myself.
Tialian 05-08-2006, 10:44 AM I have the same ones as dug on my xB right now, they've been on for about 6 months and only had a fogging issue once with them recently when I went through a car wash, it cleared up after I took the signal light out and left my car out in the sun for a week.
I have the new ones from 2kmotor but I haven't installed them yet, they look so much cleaner than the ones I have on now, I can't wait to get them in - just have to make sure they are sealed.
joesal23 09-20-2006, 12:09 AM How do you seal them?
Tialian 09-20-2006, 01:18 AM From what I hear you want to get a tube of that clear or black silicone from an auto store.
dagarhart 09-20-2006, 01:30 AM I have heard that is a big problem with halo lights. I just bought my off ebay and I have had good luck with them so far. Although I have only had them 1 week. They were packed really well. Maybe I am just lucky. If they do start fogging up, I plan on using silicone on them.
NCBOX 09-20-2006, 09:19 PM Mine fogged once and havent since (that was last year)
NastysXB 09-20-2006, 09:25 PM are these the good ones? from k2motors http://www.k2motor.com/lhpxb04jmyd.html

This is what I got in the mail from them, I asked for a refund and haven't been able to get it. I don't know whats going on with these headlights, nor K2? Their responses are completely delayed, I've tried purchasing this headlight twice since the middle of August.
NCBOX 09-21-2006, 08:23 PM I just ordered some taillights and my headlights from k2 and they have been good on contacting me about stuff being out of stock. But they always respond a week late.

rallying_the_scion 09-22-2006, 07:19 AM some instructions for aftermarket instructions say that adding silicon might not be a bad idea, i just ordered a set last week, im gonna do that.
YourNameHere 09-22-2006, 07:33 PM if mine fog up ill pull them out and put some silicon on them. i like the look way to much to give up so easy.
Big_Kokujin 09-22-2006, 07:41 PM Mine has fogged on me once i think, in like 4 months...but my wife's mustang projectors, the passenger one is real bad...i will try and bake and reseal them this weekend
rallying_the_scion 09-23-2006, 01:33 AM I got my projector lights in today, a notice in the bottom of the box making a statement to add clear silicon to seal them better.
