I have been looking at it also.If you go to tanabe website they have some exhaust clips but none with the xB.They claim that it is less than 93db so it should only be twice as loud as stock which isnt too loud. The med. touring is the same 93db it just looks different.

I seen the website and I like the way the is300 sounds but the civic is horrible. I was wondering what the XB will sound like.

I can't promise anything because I haven't heard the Concept G or the Touring yet. I have however heard the Super Hyper Medalion. That exhaust is rated at 95 db and it is very subtle with a great tone. I can only assume that the new exhausts carry the same great tone, but at a lower decibel level for an even more subtle tone.

I was planning on getting the Super Hyper Medalion for the wife before the release of the Touring and Concept G. Now that those two are out I will probably let the wife choose based on style. (We'll likely go with the touring because of more ground clearance.)

On my prelude I have a ultra medalion. That exhuast is deep and loud. awsome exhuast. I wish they made it for the XB.

if it's a straight thru design, it'll sound like every other straight thru exhaust on the market... bad.. :D

The concept G looks like a straight thru design but it sounds ricey on the civic, but mean on the is300

what DOESN'T sound ricey on a civic? the engine itself dictates what the exhaust will sound like, if it's a straight thru design. a baffle design usually only makes it all WORSE as it expands due to heat.

like that only a little quieter... maybe.. (this was side exit exhaust so aimed at the camera, that's why it's so loud in this vid)

I have the Medalion Hyper on my '98 Prelude, and to be quite honest it is kind of a love/hate relationship. I love the sound inside the car, but I hate the sound outside. If you ramp up the rpm too fast it sounds really "ricey" to me. The funny thing is you never hear that "rice" sound inside the car.

Then again, it could be because the exhaust is so old. The original owner probably installed it back in '98. I am sure the strands have broken down quite a bit over 120k miles.

Now the same exhaust on a fairly fresh installation on an xB sounds excellent. Even outside the vehicle when revved. It amazed me that that same muffler design could sound so much deeper on that little 1.5 compared to the 2.2 on the Honda.

do you think I will get better performance with a louder exhaust or a quieter exhuast.

lol loudness has nothing to do with performance. what matters is proper sizing of your exhaust piping. the muffler itself IMO does nothing for performance, unless it's a baffle design.

I know that, but if you think about it, a less constrictive exhuast will be louder. A more silent exhuast will be more constrictive. I did an experiment with my prelude by putting the silencer in. It changed the way my car runs. I dont have that throttle responce.

I just orderd my tanabe concept g so I will let you know in a week or so what it sounds like and if I notice any power gains.I also dont think that the exhaust is less restrictive to make it quieter I think its the way they pack the muffler. BTW it was 339 shipped from http://www.hopupracing.com/

Yeah, and that was in your head. The sound of the exhaust without a silencer sounds more "racer" than one with, so you probably felt it was restricting the flow of air when in reality it wasn't. It makes almost 0% whp gain difference between a silencer and non silencer. Majority of the power gains are with piping size, how they are bent, and how much you replace. The muffler itself really has no bearing on gains. By your logic, someone with a 5'' tip would have more of a gain than someone with a 3'' tip, which is incorrect. I would say you are in the right "mind of thinking", but since you feel its proven with your old prelude, and you feel it is correct, i have to say you are completely wrong.

*Stand corrected*
I've never heard of it changing, or even causing a power increase/decrease between silencer and not. hotbox05 (talking to on aim) said it would.
So i looked it up, and could only find two dyno runs of a before and after silencer. On a boosted mustang, by the numbers probably a v6, the difference was 5whp according to a written description of the run. No actual sheet. A k20a (honda), with sheet changed 2.4whp, which makes me believe it does make a slight difference, but not enough to justify one way or another.

On my old gsr, i didn't have a silencer mount so i never bothered with it, i've ran with on and with it out on my xb and it felt no different in pick up. Bottomendless, all top end power. If you can provide a dyno run showing a more drastic change, please share because i'm always up for learning something new. But i've never heard of it changing, even more so not significantly.

the old tanabe exhausts have been updated recently i think. they used that advantex material which is supposed to be better than the "other" exhaust packing material. and last longer too.

i have been doing research on a few exhausts over the past few weeks and might get the medalion hyper..
any clips and/or suggestions?
