Default Thinking About xB...Can You Help?

Hey all...I'm on Long Island and thinking about buying an xB. The price tag is sweet even with all the extras I want: navigation, leather blah blah. My husband thinks that 104 hp isn't worth it, but my arguement is "have you seen gas prices"? I'm a mom and a wife (but only 23) so I want something young and roomy. Anyone have any input? I'm thinking the 5 speed might be a little peppier? Any advice is welcomed!

Get the xB! I'm a husband and a father, and I don't get to drive my xB b/c my wife does now! It's great on gas and has enough room for the baby.

Yes, a 5-speed would be "peppier" than an Automatic.

Also, the low hp is equivalent to it's light weight body.

do it, the xb is one of the most practical vehicles on the road it can fit tons of passengers, stuff in it comfortable while getting awasome gas milage and still looking great (5 speed is where its at)

you will love it, by the way from what I have heard the auto and 5 speed aren't that much different, and you aren't going to race the box anyway. Depending on what kind of driving you do is how I would choose the tranny.

This is all so helpful! I usually just do errand driving, mostly highway b/c I live in the boonies (Manorville). I like driving a 5 speed better than an automatic but with a new baby here are my thoughts, she drops her toy while I am driving, I need to reach around to pick it up while changing gears and holding down a clutch. As far as practical I know it's the automatic, but as far as love it's the manual! Thanks guys!

The auto will do just fine! Mine is Auto (unfortunately.) You'll love this car, regardless! ;-)

I wanted the 5 speed, but didn't want to wait for it. I am happy with the decision.

The power is not bad because of the lightwieght, as mentioned. Get the tranny you prefer because though there is a slight difference in the performance, it's not substantial.

ive always found a 5 speed to be safer and it has helped me avoid accident that i would otherwise have gotten into if i were driving an automatic downshifting is a powerful tool when making fast manuvers... the coice is yours the car is still a blast to drive... and noone is saying you cant work on the engine.... our little 1.5 liter engines automatic or not have loads of parts made for them. the possibilities are endless
