Default Suggestions for Sirius Starmate install in xB

I recently purchased a Sirius Starmate (I need to move it between cars and the house so I didn't go with a hardwired tuner) and am looking for suggestions for installation.

What I am thionking about is mounting it where the OEM rearview mirror was since I replaced that with the Gentex mirror. I am borrowing a picture from tanakasan's Gentex install thread to show what I am working with.

I need two things:

1. Is there a mount out there that I can drill holes in the base of to mount it up here?
2. What's the easiest way to hardwire it since I don't think the plug that comes with it is long enough to go across the front, down the pillar and then to the lighter?

I was the one who PM'd you on how you did it

If I had the OEM mirror I would go that route but I have a black square up there with 2 holes for screws that would be perfect for mounting the Starmate
if I could just find the right mount - one that will cover the spot and I can drill a couple holes through for the screws.

kind of cool but isn't that a pain in the ___ to change the channels? I know just adjusting the mirror it seems like it is a mile away from me. Unless it has a remote in which case that would be alot easier

It does have a remote.......

I found http://www.ram-mount.com . They have just about everything imaginable to mount anything you can think of (carputers, GPS's, XM, etc.) but nothing specific for Sirius. However, they do have mounts with a standard AMPS plate I can use so I may try this (but a bit pricey!). Will need to have the Starmate in-hand to see about easy removal to move to the other car or the house. Here's a pic:

I've got my XM MyFi mounted like this. It's easy to remove, see, and change channels. Mark

That could work, too. Have t ofill that hole up there with something else. How did you mount it to the dash?

I drilled a hole large enough to fit the antenna, power cable, and audio cable through it first. Then I used the supplied alcohol pad to make sure the dash was very clean and then I used the double sided adhesive that was included with the mount to stick it to the dash. I held it in place for a couple of minutes to insure that it bonded. It's been there since December and shows no signs of going anywhere. Mark

Cool - thanks for the idea. I guess I'll put my "Air Spencer" where the mirror used to be
