well ive wanted a tc for so long, and im getting very impatient with the dealers. at first they said june 24th, then june 21st, and now july 4th?!?!! i talked to my dad about this car and the pricing and he was pleased. (im suppose to get a new car for my hs graduation :D ) then, today he said he would let me look into '04 accord ex v6 coupe, and i was like whoaaa really. 240hp and 212lbs of torque..then the question is vvt-i or i-vtec? what does everyone else consider i should do? i really like both cars, and my third option would an infiniti g35coupe, but that car is wayyy too expensive. however, if i could get an accord for 26,500 might as well put in another 7-8g for the g35..oh wait the gas prices...and the reliability of toyota or honda is much better than any other car i could think of. so please help me out and if not deciding for me..please decide with me!
your help is greatly appreciated! :D

Since you just graduated from high school a V6 will kill you on your insurance. Also since the Accord is not a HB, the tC is more practical. Also it's cooler. V6 Accord drinks premium while the tC drinks regular. :D

Congrats on the HS graduation.

Couple of suggestions:

1. Go to Edmunds.com and "compare" those cars you are interested in.
2. If money is no object (to an extent) go for the car YOU want
3. If money is an object, then I would go for the tC as you are not going to find a better looking car with standard features at the tC price.

As far as the dates, don't be so impatient. It is not like Scion is postponing for a year. You had to wait all these years to get your HS grad, so just wait a few weeks more for the tC. :!:

Dude if your dad said you could choose from the V6 Accord coupe or the tC then by6 all means go for the Accord! It's a lot better, and more roomy car. You are talking a whole other class of car here.

I say..........GO WITH THE TC!! Personally, i think the honda accord coupe is butt ugly- a mercedes knock-off. I'm not a big fan of honda's if you ask me, simpleton cars thats all. :P Tc has the looks, value, and such .........all the stuff i like!!

My folks have a new V6 Accord - it's a really nice car with a ton of power. For that kind of money though, you could find a tight pre-owned car. I'm a big fan of letting other people take the big depreciation hit. I love the looks of the tC, but I have a hard time getting past that.

All this talk of "graduating" from a tC to a Lexus - forget that, you can pick up an '01 Lexus IS300 right now for the same price as a tC if you really wanted to.

Remember the fun factor.
The handling on the accord really went down hill on this current generation.
Although the 40 hp helps, I would take a last generation accord V6 over these new ones anyday...

I test drove one when I was getting my civic, and it turns like a slug.

The tC is guarenteed to handle better than that. It'll be much more fun to drive.

As someone who owns a 2004 Accord EX I can tell you it does NOT run on premium unleaded. It takes plain old regular just like most other Hondas. I know this because its the 3rd on i have owned in 8 years. However i wouldnt consider it anywhere near a sports car. It is comfortable and handles well its larger than the tC. I'd wait until the tC is available and drive it for yourself. While waiting try out the Honda, but dont make a decision until you've driven both. And the insureance on the V6 Accord will be high, because of age and the very high theft rate on the Accord.

Personally i am counting the days until i can test drive a tC and put in my order

I would get the tC my self and see if I could get away with some aftermarket parts my self or put in an advance order for that TRD Supercharger for tC that will be out soon. But if I where to get an Honda Accord V6 Coupe, I would for the 02 model, love the way the tail lights look on it (looks alot like the tail lights on the Acura NSX).

get the one that you like the most... you cant really compare these 2 cars... there are different in all levels... I have an accord and love it... but also love my box... also considering you cant compare the accord to a card that no one has test driven... only specs on sheets of paper... either you wait to test drive both... or get the one you can drive right now.... my suggestion... be patient.....

I'd also say test out both of them before choosing.

I tried out the EX Coupe and the controls were a bit too sensitive for my liking, but the interior was very nice. The new Solara SE I found to be a lot better fit for me since it runs smoother (more comfortable), but it doesn't feel as "tech-savvy" or as sporty as the EX.

Edit: Since I can't spend that much money, the tC would be my next choice to try out. I'm counting on my test drive to be around as smooth as the Solara SE was.

Hope that gives some insight.

Did not know that...

Do your homework :!: :!: For the millionth time, the tC is NOT on the Camry platform. It uses the camry engine but is on the European Avensis platform.

honda's have a history of weak transmissions, so you might wanna check that out first before you buy. i just sold my accord and it had tranny problems, so now i am going back to toyota! build quality is still the best IMO

Actually, owning a coupe will kill your insurance as well. If there's anything you should worry about with owning a V6 is having lots of HP = more gas as well as more insurance to pay.

The smart answer is to tell your Dad the car you want costs $25,000, then buy the tC, and then buy some really great and expensive accessories.

The accord Coupe is nice, but almost every girl I know is driving one :P I liked the idea of going for the used IS-300.

Hell you could even go for a used Acura CL for under 20, or about 24,000-27,000 if you get an 03 model. 265 HP in the CL, leather, sunroof, HID headlights, whatever you do there are good things & bad.

Just get a car that fits who you are that you'll enjoy driving & can pay for if you are the one paying.

I know exactly how you feel... I was choosing between the accord ex v6, solara sle v6, and altima se-r. I guess it really depends on your preference- driving habits, $$$, etc... I was choosing between those three cars above but then, accord- ugly(my opinion), solara- have to wait for 3 months, altima se-r- very nice but i want a coupe. This weekend, although I had already special ordered my Solara sle v6, cancelled it after I saw the tC. I test drove a black m/t, a day after I saw it, it was sweeet! You have to get the manual! Get the optional s/c if you need more power. I ordered a silver m/t tC. Im getting a laptop and some other stuff with the extra money I was supposed to spend on the solara. But thats me, its totally up to you...

tscionC, you are zero260 from the edmunds forums right? You should write a review of your test drive, you are one of like 3 people that have driven the tC. Most of us (including me) have not even had the chance to sit in it. :D

Guys you are missing the point, I believe. It sounds like his parents are buying him either car. So what does the extra 6 to 7 k in cost matter? Get the Accord, it's a better car.

Or he can ask his parents if he can get a Tc and get the difference in price between the Tc and the Accord. And use the extra money to do what his heart desires with the tC. As you said, its a 6-7 thousand difference. I say, use the 6-7 K towards the Tc.

Yup, its me. I did write a little review in one of the other discussions... I think it was in the tC vs accord, although, im not too sure. If I did tell people everything about the test drive i would probably spoil if for a lot of people... I guess its just part of the purchasing process. Just be sure to test drive it, hard!(hehe i did, although the salesman was with me in the car, he didn't mind!) Compare it to the competition... you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the words of encouragment last thing I want is to have every user topic to be like the rx-8's was back when it came out & people were asking "where is the power?" At least we have one person saying the Tc can be a pleasure to drive.
