THe kids car they are "pimping" was basically two cars welded together and they said that they couldnt pimp that car so they got him a Scion xB in black i think they put flames on it (Fugly) AND that big sliding cloth sunroof which is gonna make the car handle like ____!!!!!!

Totally! Some of the style used on that show is not cool at all. And besides, when a car gets picked, doesn't the owner own a beater that can barely stay on the road? I haven't seen every episode, but every one that I have seen has started as a junk heap. Has someone already trashed an xB?

well the show is called PIMP my ride, and i dunno if any of you have noticed but pimps dont have very good taste in clothes or in modifiying cars, i wanted to enter my bug but i heard that you have to live within 10 miles of wwc thats why you always see them driving down pch, i think its b.s that they do that but whatever

the main reason half the cars on pimp my ride come out a little less than desired is Advertising! when Clarion gives you a bunch of crap to shove into a car for free you use it.... when rockford fosgate gives you a horid looking HU that doesnt mtch the DVD rockford HU that you are also givin for free you use it.... but you gotta admit they have done some really nice and crazy ____ at times.... the HiJet.... the chevy luv... Pimp My Ride was never aimed to compete with performace shows it is desingend to entertain.... if a horid looking "chandilier" dome light makes somebody smile or talk about the show to there friends Mtv has done its job along with WCC soon to be a household name as if it already isent.

just my two sence i know not everyonye shares my same opion or whatever but everybody has a few dislikes and likes for a few of the features on the cars and trucks the "Pimp" on that show

Then they tell me they are gonna pimp it out you think i care what color or how they pleat my interior or what it looks like I know it will be better than what it started out as. I was most interested in this "Drivesoft" in-car computer thing. I googled it and couldn't come up with anything... is it just software, or the actual system (I'm interested because I hate flip-up LCDs, and this was totally in-dash).

It looked like they had a giant monitor in the DoubleDin where the original stereo goes, although it looked larger than that space can accomodate. On top of that (literally, above it "in" the dash), was a normal single-din head unit. I don't even own my xB yet, but where is the room for this? It still looked stock, in terms of both where the air conditioning vents on the side were as well as the controls located below.

the interior was cool as hell..............but the exterior???? that spoiler was fugly...and I don't know about the flames or the front end....

I caught the last 5 minutes of the show. The stance, computer, and ragtop was KEWL! But that wing, graphics, and front bumper has got to go! Just my opinion.

I'll be the first in line to say that I am a negative poster, with a couple of things done to my xB (if you really give a ____, and think that will give me more credibility, you can look @ my profile), & I'll be the first to say that they ruined that xB. The flames look alright?? Haha please tell me you are kidding. Becides the fact that that was probably the ugliest, cheeziest flame job EVER, it was a cheap-___ vinyl auto wrap. They couldn't even paint it on, they used vinyl.

Custom Interior...all PHAT? WTF? If lowrider style diamond pattern stitching in bright orange vinyl, with matching orange piping around the seats impresses you, man I can't wait to see what your Scion looks like in a couple of years.

They seriously put a touring-style wing 3/4 of the way back the car, on top of a wagon. That has got to be the most rediculous thing I have ever seen. Talk about giving imports a bad name. They might as well tell the entire country (much of which has never seen a Scion before until this month) that this is an xB, & it's just a Ricy & ____ty as the rest of them.

In the past, I was very impressed by Scion's partnerships, to promote their cars. 5 Axis, Greddy, Motegi, Injen, LJ Garcia - all built outstanding cars that showed the potential of a Scion but this is definately a giant step backwards.

saw pmr last night and.. . . . omg. . . thats all i could say.
-The Flames were FUGLY and 20 diffent colors
-That spoiler. . . that spoiler was not hanging off tghe back lke a normal one wood. . . but its about 1/2 a foot from the edge. it looks like some solor powered block on the mid of the roof.
-Interior, ok. Don't know why they cose orange on a black xB, unless the ext. is, orange.
-only things i liked were the sound system, and the drivesoft.
-that kid on the show annoyed me so much. he would say "dude" every 2 $&%*ing seconds.
- First thing he says, "whao DUDE" then, "whao check out the flames DUDE" He then gos home and the first thing he says " check out the t.v DUDE"

The flames, yes, I said alright, because you can't really tell what they look like based upon your TV image. I said alright, because I haven't seen them in person. Beyond that, some flames look good. I wouldn't get it on my ride, but they did it to his. I've seen worse in person...

I don't have any desire to replace my seat fabric, but at least his is unique. Both you and I both share the same seats in our car. It is individualized... let it go.

I also didn't like the wing, as I posted, but you see much worse in the ways of APC aluminum wings on 4-door Corollas. Yet, for months now, I have been seeing Scion commercials on a lot of programming, not just MTV. Besides, MTV only has a hold on a small percentage of the market.

So you weren't happy with Scion's "partnership" on this one? Perhaps you missed Verone's post about how he sold them this car and two hours later it had a hole in the roof. Also, the other manufacturers "outstanding" vehicles have vinyl decals all over the place, yet I guess that is ok? Seems like you just don't like this shop... perhaps we all need to hit up ScionHQ.com??? :roll:

Obviously we just have different expectations, and that's OK. I don't think that a car is cool, because it looks better than a 4 door Corolla with an APC aluminum wing, but I'm sure (now positive) that there are people out there that do.

See, that is what I'm talking about. They don't do bad work and most likely this was jazzed up per some MTV-exec. I thought the TC xB was great, looks even better lowered with wheels (all hooked up with a RG kit and no drop looked dumb). I just got an issue with people bashing WCC. You hit the nail on the head and MTV kicked it up a notch "Ricer" style. You and I both like a clean cars (our cars are pretty straight lined per our profiles :wink: ), but obviously we vary in our degrees of tolerance. There is no problem in that. I'm not trying to start anything and I think this is a conversation that we would have at a meet and it would last about 5 minutes. At that point, we would say F it, and get something to eat. No drama... just opinions.

Beyond everything, Homie has a new ride. Probably the first new car that family has had in a while and he can feel better knowing he is "Pimped Out". I'm happy with the knowledge that his baby sister won't go flying off if he gets rear ended.

We're cool man... eventually we'll meet up and drink some brew at a BBQ.

But, let's look at it from the kid's perspective. Yes, I can say "kid" because I'm considered "old" turning 40 in a few months.

He pretty much had a hoopty that wasn't even safe enuff to put your worst enemy in. MTV and X picked up his car, and the next thing you know, he has a brand spanking new car. Sure, we all don't agree w/ some of the mods WCC did, but come on, how many of us were GIVEN a brand new car at his age?

Not me, I had to work for my first car.

At least the kid won't get hurt driving his old car, let alone someon else getting hurt.

I don't always like the mods WCC does, but then again, I'm not the producer/funds provider.

I personally think that what they did for that kid was amazing. It is nice to watch a show and actually feel for the person on it. Its kinda like that show extreme make over most of us are lucky enough to be able to afford a xB ourselves.

This kid has two sisters and a Mother while it was not disclosed on the show why the family up and moved to Los Angeles im sure it was for a good reason. The guy on this show was farely young and I if I was him I would be thankful for anything I was given I truly believe the guy deserved probably more than most of would including myself.

I give mad props to Mtv for giving this guy something so great his family will be safe and there is not price or taste of auto styling you could put on top of that.

Finally I saw the rerun today... I love the stereo setup and the computer and the touch screen!!! I dislike the ugly wing and the paint job though. anyway, it's good to see the smile on that kid's face....

I watched the rerun as well today (MTV played pimp my ride all morning) I agree with all of you who said the wing was outragous! am I the only one who noticed that when they were showing the kid the computer system that the silver trim they painted orange did not fit right!! the edge that meets the glovebox area had a 1/2" gap! mabey they fixed it afterwards....

I have noticed that you guys have said a few nice things about Drivesoft Car Computing Solution. We just wanted to say thanks.

As for a few strange comments about the Scion. I was on that episode an installing our Drivesoft system and I was thinking that some of the items were a little over-kill too. West Coast Customs build serious cars from Celebes etc but when it comes to the pimp my ride cars, be sure that the WCC crew does not make all the decisions. Meaning the MTV directors have a lot of say so in what is installed on the cars. Also many components are giving to the WCC crew to install. They do not have a choice and that’s why you may see so weird things on these cars.

Just so everyone knows, these cars are completed in 10 days or less which is a bit of a challenge considering the junk they choose. The Scion was actually done in 7 days which is pretty good I might add. I was there and we did not sleep a few nights. As for the screw up that you may have seen on TV with the dash etc. Those things were fixed before the kid got the Scion back.


Info about Drivesoft:
It was a 10.4 molded in the dash. The PC is a small box under the seat. It was touch screen, FM/TV-MP3-DVD-CD-GPS-XM-VCD-PiC Viewer- Car-Cam-Email-Internet-Media Organizer-Vehicle Status and more capable incar computer. We normally use 7" and 8" LCD touch screen but WCC wanted to put the usually touch on it as they do with all the high end cars they build 10"In The Dash Install.


PS: we are not trying to promote our product here on your forum but we thought since you guys were talking about it we would just give you some info.

well, in my mind, i'm glad they used wrap instead of actually painting the flames on...cause now, if he wanted to, he could rip 'em off...the wing was a bit "much" to put it nicely...interior, well, catchy, but yet tacky...ICE, well, i'd have to say that drivesoft thing was awesome...i'd get one, if it didnt cost as much as i think it does and more than likely i'd do some damage if i had that in my box...i'm addicted to solitaire...i can see me now trying to explane that to the officer that i just rear-ended. the kit...jt autostyle is the originator of the "evolution" series body kits. i had the "evo III" for my del sol and it looked nice...the kit that was on the B was the "evo V"...i think it looked pretty good...if the price was right, i might think about it for my box...but then again...rev-hard's gotta turbo kit commin out pretty soon.....just my .02

Finally saw it, and I agree with most of you, the flames are lame. As for the wing, well, it ain't my style, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that I dis-like it. Something that I did dislike is the videoscreens in the back headrests...so the people behind you can see how lame you are, I guess! The audio additions, including the floating amp was pretty cool, and the computer...well, that's just tha shiznit! One thing that I really liked is the cloth folding sunroof!

As far as free cars go, it's probably the coolest! 8)

All I can say is that kid finally got a brand new, fixed up ride! Way better than he had before:D Hey, it could've been worse...he could have gotten an Aztek :wink:

I couldn't have said it any better...I actually think they did an excellent job on the xB, and you could tell that kid was genuinely happy to have it...The guys at WCC and Mtv do a great service to some less fortunate young individuals with their show...

I hope that kid shows up at a local meet here sometime...I'd like to see that box of his more up close and maybe even get some pictures with it...I kinda like it, it's funky looking, but I like funky things :)

awesome, thats a crazy lookin car, i love the inside, looks like it cost BLING, the outside is okay, eh,

i dont know if anybody else noticed this, but i've seen at least 4 of the cars from pimp my ride get sold on ebay....one was the one from the jay leno show....he traded his in to the ford dealer.....the other was the yellow jeep type thing for the yoga instructer.....she took the fountain out of the middle console.....and the other was some green car...im not sure which one it is.....see the problem with that show is that they might put all this time and money into the looks....but what do you do it the engine blows 2 months later.....junk it all? most of these kids could use a fixed engine other than extra tvs in the back headrests that they can't see........

i agree that the wing on the scion is terrible......i hate it when people add them to cars that DONT NEED THEM. It doesn't make your car go faster.....it slows it down...also i dont know if you noticed but they moved the AC controler to the bottom flip down storage space...and made a custom frame for the 10" monitor......also what did they do with the factory fog lights from the xb????? i want them!...lol....ive been wanting to get them cause i think they make it look a little better....but they are too much money.....anyways...enough of my rambling....im sure most of you skipped over this post cause there is so much writing...

man i wan the hi-jet =P lol but yeah its good to see that someone is fortunate to get a new car in place of his old bucket.. i know mtv likes to rice things up..thats how the general public of mtv's viewers like that stuff. i mean cmon, rice might not be our thing, but to some people its the baddest sh*t on the block. im just happy im not one of those people =P
