Hey everyone. I've looked at the 18" and 19" rims from the dealer and I like them but I think my soon to be owned flint mica would look good with a gunmetal rim. Is anyone else looking around already for rims to put on it because i'm looking for ideas. And also who's going with 18s or 19s?? 19s would look sweet i bet. Thanks in advance guys and girls.....Counting the days

The stock wheels are fine. I don't even think they're ugly like on most vehicles out of the factory. Anything above 17 inches on this car is going to be purely for looks anyway. I'd rather spend money on the stereo, intake/exhaust, and maybe even some little appearance items instead.

The stock rims do look great on the tC. I will probably keep those.

I just changed to a different hubcap, I don't have the pic posted to a server so I can't show you. Its a large chrome dish, makes for a retro look back to a fifties panel truck. I makes the xB look larger from a distance. Look at mooneyes.com, exterior parts, wheel accessories, hubcap spacer.

Do the optional 18" and 19" wheels look the same as the 17"s, just bigger? Or is it a totally different design?

I'm guessing the top image is the 18's and the bottom the 19's?

Yeah, the top is 18s and the bottom are the 19s. That picture really doesn't do the 19 justice. I actually like them a lot better now that I saw this pic.

True that but man they just look really nice. Heck they'll probably be way overpriced too.

Appearance items that don't set me back thousands. And I mean I could spend on all of those things, not just one for the same price as set of decent wheels and tires.

I highly doubt that the 19" upgraded wheel package will cost 2000 to order. Don't forget - you're NOT getting the 17's, so the manufacturer saves money by keeping one set of wheels and selling another. I wouldn't expect the upgraded wheels to cost more than 1000.

djimpak

pricing was for aftermarket. but if you choose the 19's as an option it will still cost more than $1500 even if they keep your standard 17's

Check the prices of decent quality 18 and 19 inch tires alone. Especially ones in ricer...uh I mean import tuner sizes (small width, low profile).

Just to let you guys know, TRD lists the 19x8 wheels for the tC as being $398.95 per wheel on their website (http://www.trdusa.com). That is without tires, of course...

Oh, I agree with iZero BTW: I am keeping the stock rims. They look fine, the car will handle better with them, and I can put that $2000 to better use making the car perform better...

no wonder they rub... whats the offset they're using? +45?

If I ever get the TC... i'm definitely changing the rims... although for stock rims..the TC rims do look nice ... but it's not really a standout.

The 17s are coo...but I've talked to TRD and they've put on 19s on their TC and it's a perfect match according to them...also with lowered suspension.

I'm not doing anything for rims until I find out how much each of the stock rims weigh w/o a tire. If they're 18 - 20lbs (doubt they're that light) then I'm definitely keeping them. Too much heavier than that and I'll probably save up for some SSR GT7s. I'm hoping SSR brings out their 17 and 18 inch Competitions for the tC, which are about 13 and 14 lbs respectively. My guess is that the stock rims are about 26 – 28 lbs each, so moving to GT7s would net me an 8 – 10 lbs reduction in un-sprung weight per corner. Which would likely make for a slight, but still noticeable, performance increase in acceleration, braking, and handling.

What is the big deal with rims? Are the bigger they are the better they look? The shinyer(sp) the better? Does it help performance in any way? My vechicle right now runs on 15's I think, and it looks fine. I guess I'm not in the know about rims and such. Just give me a quick summary of what they add to a vechicle and what they are for and I'll be grateful. Thanks

With the topic at hand...I like whats on the tC now.

As a general rule, you can't have wheels that are big, light, AND affordable.. you can only have two outa the three. Heavier wheels mean more rotational mass, which means a slower car. It's probably the worst place to add weight on a car. So, when the average person puts big honkin’ wheels on the car, it's usually for looks, unless the plopped down a big wad of cash in exchange for high quality.

Personally, I think once you get past a certain point, bigger wheels make the car look kind of cartoony.. like a caricature with exaggerated features.

lets focus more on the width versus the size of the rim.

im personally going to change the stock wheels to lightweight 15's or 16's (black or bronze) and lower the car a good bit . I'm not into the "big and flashy" wheels. :o

I think the stock rims are great. To get alloys instead of hubcaps and beyond that 17's is a great thing for the price, but if i could afford rims i would either get some very light rays or a 3-spoke rim, i love that style and i think its really original.
