Has anyone installed or seen one of them fancy ragtops Streetbeat Customs offers. I think one of the canvas rags might look kinda tight when used with a roof rack. It would be kinda old school Volkswagenish.

If it's the same one I saw the ragtop spans the back seat and cargo area. I guess they couldn't take out that massive reinforcing rib between the B-pillars. That one was still quite nice -- very distinctive and the install job looked very clean. I'd love to see it in broad daylight.

the only thing i'm worried about those rag top...actually two things...
1) rain seeping in when wet or any moisture
2) theft access..cuz i used to drive a convertible...and they just ripped the top like paper with a knife and stole my car....
so...if these ragtop can show it can deter both of my concerns...i may consider it...
n e thoughts?

Those tops worked very well on old school VWs because the roofs had quite an arch to them. It's a lot harder to make a tightly-sealed ragtop on a relatively flat roof like that of an xB. Problems will arise with sealing and flapping in the wind.
If you look at a VW top, you'll see that it is a lot more than just a sheet of cloth and some supports. A lot of engineering went into them!
