Any one have any experience with or opinions on oil catch tanks. I was thinking about getting the GReddy one if for no other reason then I want something to pop in the ride. However, if these things are totally useless then I'll pass.

In my opinion they are pointless unless you have to have it for track regulations or something (i dont even know if thats mandatory) I think there are better ways to spend that money get some springs, intake or subs or something. Just my two cents.

Actually these are great if your running forced induction and you might get oil blow out or whatever its called....in terms of a NA engine they will work in terms of keeping the inside of your engine cleaner and keeping accessive oil out of there when it doesnt need to be coating your engine....but if you get it you always should empty it when changing your oil also....if there is any in it

it's completely useless for NA..

oil vapor causes the octane rating of your gas to lower....using a catch can keeps the oil vapor from ever getting sucked in and coating your throttle body and intake manifold....the catch can on my 2k civic si is in between the intake manifold and pcv valve and after a few weeks there is a lot of oil in the can....now i would rather have it in the catch can then in my intake manifold making a nice thick layer of sludge again....whoever says these are useless shouldnt be working on cars

is it available with red accents instead of blue?

Yes. There are two styles the old style pictured above with blue hose clamps and a new style (pictured here) that has red hose clamps. The new style is oval shaped rather then square. The clamps on the old style could be replaced by any 9mm hose clamp. So if you like the square style with red clamps you could just replace the clamps (if you can find red ones). It looks like the new style has a different style of hose clamp/adapter that screws directly into the tank so they are probably not able to be replaced with any old clamp.

Wouldnt it be better to run the tank standing up instead of on its side to get proper amounts of oil in the tank and also it doesnt take as much space up....i love these things

No, it hooks up inbetween the vacuum line, which means there's a suction of air, while you're on the throttle that will pull that crap up into the can.

They are, although I don't think it's because it does a better job filtering that way, just takes up less room. I think a GSR has less room to spare than our boxes, but I think it really just comes down to preference. Although it is an effective way of filtering out oil vapors from re-entering your engine, it's also an engine dressup piece, so most people will want it seen, & want their 90 bucks worth! :)

I think if and when I get one I might go balls out and go for something like the SARD tank...its a slimmer design....plus not to many people have SARD products
