Hey, a previous customer of mine that bought an xB way back in the day stopped in with his brother. He is from Toronto Canada and really wants an xB. I was wondering if any of you guys know of any dealers in that area that import xB's. I would really like to help him out cause he is a really cool guy and is one of my best customers. If you have any info for me please let me know.
I have seen a couple of posts from Canucks who have bought their cars in the US and driven them across the border. One such complained that his local Toyota dealer would not work on his electrical system because they were not authorized on Scions. One post mentioned that he had to do some modifications to make the car Canadian legal, but he did not mention what had to be done.......
I am in a similar situation -- I'd like to buy one from a US dealer and drive it back - but from the few dealers that were willing to respond, Scion does not allow them to sell to non-US residents... this seems odd.
Anyhow, here in Toronto, your friend should look in the autotrader http://www.autotrader.ca and there are a bunch of 'dealers' that sell newish xBs albeit for a pretty hefty markup.
There are Canadian Toyota dealers selling xBs - I believe they will work on Scions, though I haven't confirmed the status of the warranty.
The modification you would have to do is install daytime running lights which should run about $100. The cars sold locally should have this mod already completed.
Also... If anyone has been successful in buying an xB and driving it back, please let me know (via pm).

i am right in the middle of the process of buying an xB and driving it up. it turned out to be a lot cheaper than what dealers have them for and you can also get the options you want.
this website should be able to answer all of your questions:
http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html
p.s. it's not that scion is not allowed to sell vehicles to canadians, it's because when people first starting doing it toyota canada complained to toyota u.s. that they are losing sales because of it. so they kinda have an agreement now that they will try not to sell so many to canadians. actually the 2 closest scions dealerships to the border were closed down not too long ago because of it.
hope this helps.

NAFTA is only applicable to goods manufactured in north america (generally, with some exceptions) so a japanese xB would be subject to canadian duties, i had heard... though i don't KNOW that duty is applicable to an xB... (chappelle?)
