What about the airbag?

 

What about it? I wear glasses, the first wreck I get into, the airbag would jam my glasses right into my face. Now with that, I have a 50/50 chance of one of the lenses breaking off and jamming into my eye. Now on the other hand, for me to hit the steering wheel, I'd have to be going really fast,(it's and xB), or not wear a seatbelt, (first thing I put on before I even start my car). That's what I think about the airbag.

 

If that's how you feel... Enjoy the new wheel, I sure do like it.

 

^ or the other car would be going very fast, or be an suv and have 2 tons of inertia. its most likely that your glasses would pop off your face before it finds the airbag. I agree that airbags are far from perfect, but it beats eating a fancy new steering wheel.
It's a pretty wheel though.

 

well my airbag is on but it shouldn't be as I'm too short to be helped in any huge way by it- more likely that I will be hurt.

However, as another driver, I understand why removing the airbag is ILLEGAL- if i hit you, and you get hurt and sue me because YOU took out your airbag, that's a lot of hardship on my part to defend against your illegal steering wheel.

Safety features are not just for one's own comfort- they protect your family (who wants to see you stay alive to see another day) and the other drivers around you (who don't want to be and shouldn't be responsible for causing you completely unnecessary damage in a crash).

Also, the airbag slows your torso down so you don't hit the speedbelt limit at high speed causing all kinds of internal damage. Its whole point is really to slow you down more slowly and keep your head from snapping around- because a few broken ribs from a popped airbag is nothing next to brain damage from getting your head whipped around, even if it comes NO WHERE NEAR the steering wheel.
