Need your opinions - new system/amp placement
Thanks for clicking.
ok, so here's the deal...
I want to put in a system that looks more or less stock but has excellent sound quality. I've had cars in the past where I filled my trunk with 12's and lit up amp racks and while I still think setups like that are very slick I need a more practical setup in my XB. So, with that in mind here is what I have so far (none of it installed yet):
Eclipse AVN5500 DVD Nav/Head Unit
Eclipse IPC106 ipod adapter
Polk MMC525 5.25" coax for rear fill
Polk MMC6500 6.5" component set for the front
Kicker 06ZX3504 (90x4) to power the above
Kicker 06CVX10 (10" 2 ohm Comp VX sub)
Kicker 06ZX7501 (750x1 @2ohms) to power the sub
I'm going to order one of the under-seat boxes from www.quarterwavedesigns.com and put it underneath the passenger seat. So here are my questions:
1. MAIN QUESTION! I have 2 amps... I am going to mount one underneath the driver's seat... Any suggestions as to where to mount the second? I definitely do not want to mount it behind the rear seats on top of the spare or storage.
2. Wiring... Does anyone have any suggestions as far as wires, fuseblocks, a cap, etc for a system this size? (it's been a while since I've put in a system and have never done one in an import)
3. xB battery/alternator - Are the stock battery and alternator sufficient for an excess of 1100 watts?
4. I am going to order a pair of speakers (most likely 4" coax) for the dash as well just to add a little front imaging (also planning on mounting the tweets from my 6.5 component set in the A-Pillars) and am planning on running these on the power from the head unit (it's 50w per ch)... Does anyone see a problem with this?
Thanks a lot for any input you might have.

hm, on second thought... The more I examine the situation the more I lean toward taking back my Kicker 10" VX sub and instead buying a 12" L7 that comes with a box and just putting on it on the side behind the rear seat. I guess I would still have ample cargo room and could simply remove it if I needed more.
In that case I can mount an amp under each front seat. Ok, ignore question one.
Thanks.

did a similar set up with 2 10" alpine type -r subs. I put my excelon amp for the highs under the passenger seat and the kicker sub amp under the drivers seat. Take the jack out of it's holder and stick in the stow away cargo area behind the back seats. I ran a 0 gauge wire to a stinger fused splitter. 1 terminal in and 3 terminals out. I ran the 0 gauge through the firewall on the passenger side and mounted the splitter block on the ledge under the front of the passenger seat. then the 4 gauge to each amp and also grounded each amp with 4/0 wire. what will be time consuming is running new speaker wire into each door. It is probably easist to tak all three seats out and strat that way cause the back panels won't come out with out the rear seat being removed also the b pillars are easier to get to if everything is out of your way. check the link below for pics of mine.

also I have my 4" on deck power and they sound great I know pioneer and kenwood both make sets that will fit. You may have to snip off two mounting tabs for a clean fit, but no big deal. I have way more highs than I need so I can imagine with the components it will probably be ear splitting. as far as a battery and alternator goes it is next on the list. I think I am okay until I crank the bass **** way up and all the lights are on, but I think mine sounds fine with the gain around 2- 2.5 on the **** marks These boxes hold music very well and you will be happy with the acoustics they have, road noise however is another discussion on many other threads....
All i can say is it's nice to work for Circuit and get that hookup isn't it.
0awg (distro block from 0awg to two 4awg)or 2-4awg wires, atleast 1.2 cap for the sub amp, Optima yellow top battery, way bigger altenator and run the 4" of the radio and 6.5's and 5.25 off amp or run all the fronts in series off the front channel of the amp and the rears off the rear channel of amp.

Thanks for the replies guys, great info.
Proshop - You are absolutely right about Circuit (about 3500 worth of gear for around 1900)- good eye man! That's pretty impressive. Do you work for Circuit as well?
Quick question, you mentioned using a "way bigger alternator". About how many amps are we talking and is there a manufacturer you recommend?
