I've been trying to understand how using amps to power my front and mid panel speakers works.

Ill have the stock HU w/ipod.

Im going to be installing a pair of edi6000 components in the front and in the mid panel im gonna throw in the eu650's or 600's (probably the 600's because they have a matched power rating in comparison to the 6000.

As for the amp, I think ill stick with the elemental designs NINe.4 a 4 channel amp.

Now comes the part where I am utterly lost.

For getting signal to the amplifier some people have said to use a LOC, and some people have said to use a wiring harness to get rca outputs so you can plug that into the amp.

Can I use this one 4 channell amp to power my edi6k's, my eu650's and also a pair of eu700's?????

Since it has four channells would I have to power it as such :

Chan1 is right side speakers ie one edi6000 woofer and tweeter and one eu600 speaker.

Chan 2 is left side ie one edi6000 woofer and tweeter and one eu600 speaker.

Chan 3 is eu700 sub number one

Chan 4 is eu700 sub number two.

Does this make sense? This is the power rating on the amp:MS Power @ 12.5v : 4 x 65 @4Ohm, 4 x 100 @2Ohm, 2 x 150@4Ohm

Will I be pushing enough power to my speakers in my door and midpanel that they wont be drowned out by the eu700's? Will I be pushing enough power to my entire system? Am I putting the power in the right places?

Im normally a home theatre guy...and cars elude and confuse me. on my computer I have a set of Logitech Z-5500 speakers which are 500 watts rms and im rarely turning those up past 30% (partially because of neibhours).

On a slightly related but different note I have 2 old subwoofer box's that have 6 inch subs in them. They are ported boxes. each box has .54 cubic feet of volume (perfect for vented according to the edead site) Ill probably get some silicone and seal them from the inside. Can anyone find a reason why this would be a really bad idea? or even just a bad idea? btw, I'll be mounting the eu700's inside each box.

Cliffs:
1. How do you power a pair of components, a pair of mid ranges, and a pair of subwoofers.
2. How do you send audio information to the amp properly (stock ipod hu)
3. Old subwoofer box which held 6 inch woofers, ample volume, can they be converted to hold eu700's...

Thanks guys, I appreciate it alllllllllllllottttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

Really my main question is just numero uno. How do you power 4.2 worth of speakers???

1. You'll probably need two amps to do the job you want. Nine.4 and Nine.2? You might want to check the numbers on that, but you would KILL the soundstage potential if you bridged the fronts and rears together. As I understand, one channel on the amp to each speaker.

2. I've got the stock iPod head unit and will be using a LOC to get the sound. The ebay harnesses are LOC, they just integrate better, but you pay $30-$40 more for it.

3. On boxes I have no clue, sorry

Thanks!

I was trying to figure out a way to do it slightly more cost effective...

My only options now are too use the stock hu to handle the front speakers (ewww)

or to get a cheaper 2 chan amp to use alongside the ed amp.

Im guessing that since the eu700's are just low end, let the 2 chan amp handle those.

One last question is regarding how to get sound signal to those two amps. I understand u can use a LOC to get 4 outputs, if im doing 2 to my sub amp and 2 to my speaker amp is that going to effect sound at all?
Im wondering if this statement is true:

The stock headunit gives 4 channell sound, but it is really only stereo in signal. ie the front right speaker is getting the same signal as the rear right speaker. If so it doesnt really matter that im using 2 rca's for one amp and 2 for the other.

If you want to go as cost effective as possible:

Channels 1 & 2 powering the 6000s up front.

Rear channels on HU powering the rear speakers.

Channels 3 & 4 powering the 700's in the back.

And keep the LOC in there.
