Can my xb handle a 2000 watt amp?
well i am currently building a system for my RS1. i will be running 2 solobaric l7's in 12". i am going to wire them to have an impedence of 1ohm, and the amp i am runnign will power each of them with 700 watts RMS.
my main concearn is, will my cars stock electrical system/alternator handle the load of a 2000 watt amp, plus maybe another 600 watts to power my mids.
if you have expierence with this much wattage in your scion please let me know what yrour unning. kthnx

If the amp says Pyramid or Rockwood on it, you will be just fine
Seriously, 2000 watts at 12 volts is over a 150 amps! Peak or not, you will need to upgrade your electrical system...high ouput alternator, batcap, bigger battery, etc.
Don't forget to run the correct size power and ground cable....dual 4 awg or 1/0 awg min.
Good luck!

then you should have no problem what so ever on running that amp in your car...because it probally only puts out 800 watts...... and you are super lucky to be able to put out that much...so i say yes...i ran a memphis mojo 1500 true watts in my car dimage...and battery light came on when i floored it no power for my spark plugs
yeh i figured a budget no name amp would only put our like 40-50% of that it said.
so im thinking a 1 farad cap should be good enough to help pick up the slack? what else do you reccomend as far as wiring.

No lights dimming?? I have a JL Audio 250x1 and a JL 300x4 and if i really crank it up and heavy bass line drops my lights are dimming....
Also if your going to want to run such a loud system put out the money on good componets you'll be much happier in the end.

just get a good battery, maybe an optima dry cell or deep cycle. get a capacitor, and make sure you car is running. i had a 1500 watt amp powering 3 jl 12w6's in nmy civic and i didnt really have a problem. the lights might have dimmed slightly when i had it cranked but its not gonna damage the car. just make sure u have the right wiring.
You definitely would need to purchase an after market ground kit (HYPER GROUND KIT) if you're going push that much wattage into your system. I think 2000w is overload for a stock electrical setup.
HKS or Sunautomotive Ground kits costs around $120 - 150 at Super Autobacs here in Orange County but the good thing is that it'll definitely make a big difference in sound and everything else i.e. headlights/taillights

i would just run 4 guage...2 guage if you must...but yeat get a red top battery and a cap and it should hold fine.....and another thing are your L7s dual 2 ohm voice coils???? or are they each 1 ohm each??? cause if not you are not even going to touch what that amp is supposedly put out...which is 2000 watts @ 1/2 ohm...so you must have either a 1 ohm voice coil sub or dual 2 ohm voice coils.
oh yea was reading the specs ....and there is no way in hell you can hit what the amp is supppose to put out...it saids 1/2 @ 2 x stereo.....so unless you have dual 1 ohm voice coils on each side you cant touch the 2000 watt rating... this is also a high current amp meaning it will draw more power... you need to get a Class D sub amp...like i said i dont know what ohm your subs are but that has alot to do what what kind of amp you want...i have a dual 2 ohm voice coil memphis SHP 15.....i run a 1 ohm 1000d memphis amp(1100 watts). that one sub needs all the power from the amp and the amp needs that exact ohm rating to get all the juice from it. i hope you understand

the subs are 2ohm dual voice coil, so im pretty sure i can wire them to a 1ohm impedance, also if i got a class d sub would i be able to run them multi channel, or would i have to bridge them and run them through one output formt he sub?

i can wire my 2 subs to a 1/2 ohm load. so im thinking your right about the class d sub, get something around 1000watts rms and run both subs off them. im nto looking for anything competition, i just need to put some bang in the box.

a .5 ohm load will :
1)Draw huge amounts of current.. not good for factory wiring/electrical system
2)Most likely kill ANY amp you have...
When systems that aredesigned to run .5 ohm, or even .6667 ohms, they are only designed to play for 10 - 15 seconds max... ie pure spl vehicles or spl constests only!
I would reccomend that you wire those subs in series parellel and get a 2 ohm stable amp...

I got a problem and that problem is that my xB's ride is really bouncy. I wanted to ask you guys if the reason why my car is so bouncy is because of the springs or shocks? If it's my springs (Sprint) then if i get better springs like Tein or Spy, would i notice a difference in quality with my stock shocks? Or do you guys think it's the shock and not the spring? If it's the shocks, are there any aftermarket companies like Tociko and KYB that sell shocks for our cars? That'd be great if someone can fill me in on this problem that i'm experiencing.
