I finally get my 05 TCM XB tommorw and I cant wait. I was a little bored today so I decided to do a little modification to my web browser. I changed the windows logo to the scion logo instead. Kinda lame but oh well.

What size does the logo have to be and where do you change it?

My stupid browser has an Earthlink logo there... and I haven't had earthlink in 4 years. I just don't know how to get rid of it. Would be cool to replace it with a Scion logo. How do you do it?

You make a bmp file that's 28px wide and the height is a multiple of 28px. Each frame is 28px high, so it depends on how many frames in the animation. www.gifworks.com has some tools that let you split an animated gif out into individual pics, then you'd have to paste those pics together in Paint or something. Once you have the file, save it to the c:\winnt folder for Win2K (not sure if it's also the windows folder for other OSs), and then you need to edit a registry key to point to it. Just search Microsoft's site for IE logo image or something like that to find out. I have a couple different things at work I've made during slow time, works fine. Making an animated scion logo would be a PITA due to all the steps involved, but you could do something in photoshop to make it fade to black and back.

Works for XP.
The picture size is 28x28. The easiets way is to go down your start button and click on run then type gpedit.msc. When the group policy editor comes up Click on user configuration then windows settings. Then click on internet explorer maintenance, browser user interface, the custom logo and put in your path to your graphics.

You can do tons of other cool stuff with group policy editor so poke around.

Good point, that works in Win2K as well. Just make sure the animated logo is in multiples of 22px tall and 38px tall for the larger one.

Alright so who's gonna take one for the team (the un-programmer-y team) and make an animated gif for the rest of us to download?

PS. Just putting it out there in the hopes of someone hooking me up. :)
