Hello All,
Just wanted to get everybody's opinion on a date and place to have our next bbq...being that the SD "Q" was such a success, it'll be hard to top that one, but we'll try. It'll be great to see everyone again. We were thinking mid or late July.
Again we will have great food, games, music, raffles..ect..and being that it's summer, maybe we can have an ALOHA theme for the picnic, yes even a HULA troop. Pls. let us know what you think. All suggestions are welcome. Peace

I think that we should have a BBQ in the Central Coast so that the whole California Scion Family can attend. Maybe somewhere around San Luis Obispo?

I think thats a great idea and location. Any body out in that area? Maybe you can suggest a nice spot that will have enough room for all of us, our Scions, and best of all, the pocket bikes. (Also known as "Small Crotch" rockets)

i'm up for it... nothing like good food and great fun~
Far as place of venue... i wouldn't mind Santa Barbara area or even Malibu. Going up to Central Coast would be nice too... but prob have to get a room, cuz i wouldn't want to drive down after a long day of eating and playing~
I think we should throw the BBQ and also have a semi-carshow kind of display...with judging (maybe even a SE Trophy)...
We should definitely do the raffle prizes again...and don't forget to bring ur pocket bikes~hehe.
Just make sure the BBQ date falls on a Saturday.

There is a small beach just before you get into San Luis Obispo that i believe that would serve as a great location. Don't remember the name of the beach. But it is a good size and you can do a small canyon run to get to it. It also has a small pier you can do some fishing there. What do you guys think. It's just 4 hours away from LA area. Not sure how far from the bay area.

I live in Santa Maria about 30min from San Luis Obispo and the beach your talking about is Avala beach, this would be a good spot but with summer comming up this beach can get really packed where I have seen people walk a good couple of miles. I use to be a great local beach but as pismo has become more inflated with tourism more people have found Avala. I was thinking Waller Park here in Santa Maria its a huge park plenty of parking and I can reserve a spot with a huge BBQ pit for tri tip, chicken, Asada, wennies, etc. There is also a huge baseball feild vally ball area, pounds, ducks, play area for the kids, and pony rides aswell. I think it would be a great spot right in the middle for everyone from SoCal and NorCal to meet up. Also I can make some flyers for a Scion Owners meet an add in the paper etc to get things poping on the Central Coast. I will also find prices and see if I can work some discounts on hotel rooms. Just let me know and the work will be done. For those going to BOTI I'm sure we can talk about it more and I can get started on things monday if the decision is made for the Central Coast. Hope that helps and see you all soon.

As for Malibu... there are few state beaches and parks. I'm not sure about the parking ..but most state parks have abundant parking.
There's also a nice grassy park in Malibu right across from Pepperdine University along the short cliffs... it has a baseball field, picnic area, soccer field and just open grass area.
Malibu Bluffs Park
This six-acre community park is conveniently located at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road. The park consists of 2 baseball diamonds, a soccer/multi-purpose field, exercise par course, jogging path, picnic tables, whale watching station, and the Michael Landon Community Building.
There's also a state park i think it's called Malibu Lagoon Park..but they have some picnic areas too.
Just a suggestion...
as for central coast BBQ venue..i'm up for that too..but have to find out about the room rates cuz i'm not driving down 4 hours after eating all those BBQ.

Gabe, if you or I go to a beach, dmn greenpeace will try to roll us back in the water, I hate it when that happens. Either that or kids try to feed us sardines and clap our hands like flippers, got to love the the big men.

lmao Avalia isn't the greatest spot for surfing but you can give it shot. Pismo is a bit better but less room for parking. Also there is Oceano State beach where we can have BBQ at the beach and a BON FIRE at night. You can drive on the beach but with our boxes not a great idea but they do have a huge parking lot! Lets there is also a big park in a Atascadaro with a lake for peedle boats a zoo, and some other random park things. The acroos the street from Cuesta College between Slo and Morro Bay there is another big park. Well just a few more ideas for the Q but it looks like most don't want to make the drive up this way!

I'd say NorCal, once again that's NorCal, but it's probably a huge drive for everyone, so, hmmm......

who's going to bring extra boards? I can't get mine all the way from SD to LA unless I manage to get a roof rack anytime soon. I'd love to surf somewhere other than PB!

Hmmm Let me work on the Boards. I Believe there are some places in Pismo that rent them, and if enough people want to surf and rent i can try and get a good deal going. Also if someone would be kind enough to help me get back out in the water that would be cool. Its been a long time since I surfed I think i need to start all over. The waves are not to bad in Pismo but most days they can be pretty blown out. But hey even just chillin on the board and becoming one with nature is always good too.

Hey James!
I'll most likely be in Japan by the time this event takes place but how about having it at "Montana de Oro" beach? I've always thought that small beach was great. A nice drive and then the drive thru the forest grove to end up at the end of the road to a small cove with a beach. Best of all, if one chooses to stay, there's camping at the small camp ground. My favorite thing to do there is walk along the rocks with all the tide pools. Brings back memories of my younger days.
Think about it? If planned well, we could have the whole place to ourself?
Enjoy!

I'd say Central Coast, but then what do I know. I drove down for TORC! Well, not just for TORC but to hang out w/ everyone down in SoCal again. I had a blast and wouldn't hestitate to drive down again.
