Default Summer Blend is Great!

The last three fill-ups of gas and I'm seeing a big improvement in MPG. All winter long I was getting around 33 mpg now the the summer fuel is in the tanks I'm getting 36 mpg. And no, If you are wondering if I am driving different. If anything I might be running a little harder.

I drive 35 miles one way to work, there is a 7% grade on a mountain, a 12 mile stretch of Interstate and the rest is all two lane roads. On the Interstate I cruise between 70 and 80 ( once last week up to 95 messing around) and on the two lane I usually go about 60 to 65 unless there are slowpokes ahead of me. If anybody is familiar with Rt. 225 north of Harriburg you would know it is nothing close to being flat and straight.

It makes sense that mileage would improve with summer blend- there's less methanol, ethanol, mtbe or whatever else they use for better emissions in winter blend, all of which have less energy/gallon than gasoline, iirc...

At least that's the rationale for different blends around here- better winter emissions...

My calculations are as exact as you can get. I fill up at the same place and do the math, can't go wrong

ok sure....... if you drive hard and in hills and have a relatively stock xB it isn't going to happen.

but i'm not going to argue.. i'm sick of everyone on here hating me for thinking what i do.

not saying you're lying to get attention. and you calling me a jerk is just the reason i don't like this board.

when you've worked on these cars for a long time and when you have read every single thread about these car's that has ever existed on a minimum of 10 forums.

I know these cars and what theyre capable of , as far as style , performance , wheel fitment , gas mileage , towing , you name it. I promote for toyota/scion , and i've driven mine for about 40,000 now.

just cause people think theyre getting 36+ mpg doesnt mean it's actually happeneing. not saying theyre intentionally lying.

congrats whether it's truly 36 or not.

I've kept track of gas mileage on vehicles since I was 18 yrs. old, I know how to do it very accuratly and because I am getting 36 mpg you think it's my lack of knowledge or poor math skills. I am not the only one that drives with a steady foot which on any car can greatly improve your mileage, but hey you know it isn't possible so there must be a lot of people on here that don't know what their doing. And by the way I have owned a Class A tractor in the past and putting 120,000 miles a year on it so I've checked more mpg's than you you will ever dream of in a lifetime.

I drive 50,000 miles or so a year. I am getting 33 to 37 mpg. Whats the big deal? If one person on this board can't do it, I guess I can't be doing it either. Grow up!
