I had a real hard time last night trying to install my exhaust, I really need some scionlife member advice. My xB is new, 70 miles new, so there shouldnt be any problems with aged rubber hangers. I have a Borla Cat-back exhaust (rear section). I got the clamp off between the muffler pipe and the pipe to the front of the vehicle just fine. I then lubed the hell out of the rubber hangers with WD40. I let it sit for a few minutes, then began tugging, twisting, pulling, swearing....
I could not get the shafts with the cone shaped heads to slip through the rubber hangers. Am I supposed to remove the entire rubber hanger w/ exhaust from the body of the vehicle? Or just take the hangers attatched to the exhaust and slip them out of the rubbers?

What me and a friend did was just take the stock exhaust off of the hangers, and left the hangers on the car.
The trick is you need a really big metal bar to prod the hanger with in order for the stock part to get out. It takes awhile, but with enough pulling/pulling with a big freakin metal rod or some sort, it will come out.
Trust me, we just did the install this morning.

I used a long screwdriver and mine came out fairly easily. All I can say is pull, pull, pull! Leave the hangers up there. The bright side is, once you get the old one out, the new one slides in like buttah.

Put a big flathead in the same hole the mounting bar goes through, then pull down really hard and fast.Make sure to use plenty of lube! She doesnt like it dry!

Yeah, just lube up the rubber hangers on both sides and it will come out eventually. :D

i beg to differ.
the muffler took less than 45 mins all together and i didn't even get dirty.
springs take forever and theres a billion bolts u gotta tighten and loosen in the
process of it!
haha.. but spray 'SILICON SPRAY' which is available at all autoparts store.
they use it on window rails and what not. 100% bushing OK.. it won't eat it up or
dissolve it over time at all.

you should really wait until you break in the engine to do mods. doing mods before the 1000 mile mark can mess with the engine.

Well if anything goes wrong, I just put the old exhaust back in and take it to the dealer. I waited until I hit 400 miles to do it, just hit 4 hundo yesterday morning, installed the exhaust yesturday afternoon.
I'll add pics later in the week, thanks again for the advice. It sounds real good, not to loud, but loud enough to know it isnt stock. The tip sticks out too, so you can see where it says Borla...and they sent me a free hat and sticker!! lol
