Default HELP ME PLEASE!?!?!

ok... so i now have my underbody installed. but there is a problem, when i put it down off the jack, pulled it out of the garage, and started it up, the service engine light came on. i didn't think anything of it, but then i opened the engine compartment and it is making this really weird noise, it almost sounds like a blow off valve on a supercharger, coming from the intake/engine area. i think it's nothing so i pull out of the driveway and start to go down the street and it wont let me go more than 10-15 feet and it kinda sputters to a slow crawl. and the RPM's are being stopped at 3000. there is something wrong... but i have NO clue what it is.

i did not drill anything, cut any wires, or anything of that sort what so ever. did not even touch the mass air flow filter (which they say is the problem) here is what it looks like:

that is attatched to the intake on the side of the intake tube. the dealer wants to charge me somewhere around 300 bucks, i dont want to pay that. if there is something that was not caused by the intake then they have to fix it, if it was directly caused by the intake InJen said they would fix it.

this is the thing that i'm talkin about that is messed up:

i found one on ebay... but i dont know how reliable it would be. please, is there someone that can find that better than 300 bucks?

sorry for the long write up... but i just would like to figure out what i did wrong. if there is anyone on here that knows what is goin on please help me.

It has been stated (to much debate) time and time again on this site that the design of the Injen intakes can lead to MAF failure. This is due to the fact that the crank case vent hose connect to the intake before the MAF.

My advice? Do you best to try and get Injen to cover the MAF. (I doubt they will do it though. Last thing they want to do is set a precedent.) Otherwise, pay the money for the new MAF, pull off the Injen intake and put the stock air box back on. Then you can begin a search that places the hose AFTER the MAF.

By the way, what was it you installed? Underbody? What is that?

I'll tell you exactly what happened.

When you were unhooking the battery, the wrench tapped the intake pipe, completeing a circuit and shorted out the MAF Sensor. You car is now in "limp mode" and won't go over 3k and it will idle funny. But you can make it to the dealer.

How do I know this? I did the same thing on Sunday Whoops!

It's $145 at the dealer. It's also covered under warranty if you put your stock airbox on and play dumb. Your call.

i like the "play dumb" part... i might have to do that... just find a friend that will let me use his stock air box for a few days and take it to the dealer ;) another funny thing... i did mine on suday as well... i think that was just a bad day for electrical stuff.

I don't know if it will get you out of limp mode, but there are instruction on this site on how to reset the ECU by pulling a fuse. Just do a search and I am sure you can find it.

Good Luck.
