Default Gotta love having a car enthusiast wife!

I think Mothers day is a good time to express the appreciation i have for my enthusiast wife. She is the mother of my 2 sons, ages 23 and 18. she loves cars, especially old, small, and wierd looking cars. She drag raced our 83 GTi in the 80's, when we had the only 4 banger FWD car on the track. She raced a week before our youngest son was born(she was in the thick of the points batttle).
I picked up a 69 SAAB 96 V4, with a 4 speed on the column for her birthday early last year. I have been working on it ever since, and it's runnign pretty well now. it's a driver, not a show car, which is what she wanted. here are a few picts of it at a cruise late last year, along with my 85 "rocco..

I would venture to guess that most guys wives, when asked the question"what do you want for Christmas", would not answer....
"I want a set of undercar neons"
Well, that is what my wife asked for, so i hooked her up with a set of blue neons. Since the SAAB is so damn small, i couldn't put all 4 neons uner the car, so i put 2 under it, and 2 inside it. She loved the look, plus i was able to use an existing unused switch on the dash to control them. She loves to make fun of Ricers, and most of the time they are too dumb to know they are being made fun of....she says she wants to park the SAAB with the ricers in the cruise, and fire up the neons....
Here are a few picts of a cruise we went to last night...

you need to put some blue lights under the hood now. That would look great with the underbody lights. I would suggest a cold cathode and not neon though. Brighter and better and not glass. It will make your wifes eyes really light up when that hood is popped.

Thanks!. I offered to put some lights under the hood already, but she said she wants to hold off on that for the time being. The SAAB does have a lot of personality, that's for sure. The darn thing turns more heads than any Corvette, for about 1/10th the price!

There is a pretty active and hardcore vintage SAAB community out there. 2 guys especially...Jack Ashcraft and Chip Lamb. I have been able to get the parts i have needed, but they are EXPENSIVE. For example, i needed an intake manifold gaasket. The only way to get one was to buy an entire engine gasket set. $130. I could have fabricated one, but i didn't want to end up doing it twice. So now i have lots of spare gaskets..LOL. I needed a windshield washer pump assembly, which i sbuilt into the resevoir cap. I ended up spending 30 bucks for it, used. I just saw a set of tail light lens sell on ebay for almost 70 bucks, and they werent that nice.
Thanks to the internet, the parts are easier to fnd, but you are right, it is an adventure searching for parts. I still have not found a glove box liner for mine.
