Default SPEAKER CHOICE

I need some advice on woofer type/brand. I am using a fiberglass sealed enclosure with 1.3 to 1.5 cf of space. I need a 10' woofer that will work with this amount of space. The box is divided to give this much space per speaker. Most brands I have looked at say .75 to 1.2cf(being the most) space. I have always used ported boxes and this is my first custom enclosure and I want to find something close to using these specs. Can ya help a newb out

You better fill it up with something, that inside diameter is too big for most sealed 10" speakers you need like half that!! Fill it up with wood or polly fill or something

Take a look at the Diamond Audio D9. Looks like it could work in your sealed application, given you have enough depth. Otherwise you may want to look into having a port(s) added so that you can run it as a sealed enclosure.

Don't add polyfil. That just makes the enclosure seem larger to the subwoofers.

Is the box already built? You say that it's sealed and has 1.3 to 1.5 cubic feet of airspace per side? Is there any chance that the baffles would accomodate a 12" woofer because in a sealed chamber there are many 12" woofers that would work very well. That airspace wouldn't necessarily be too large for 10" woofers but it would be a setup that would sound very good and play the lowest octaves very well but won't offer much in the way of output and power handling. If your main concern is sound quality then a 10" woofer would be a good choice, but if you want some SPL to go along with it check out a 12" woofer. Mark

wood, yes
polyfill, no

Polyfill would actually give the illusion of MORE airspace... throwing in a wood block would be more beneficial....

edit:
My bad, I didn't see that Rton20's already posted that....

Yes the box is already built, so I am gonna try to see if a 12 will fit or just add some wood. Or I may see about adding a port to it. I have seen some Kenwood 10 that recommend up to 1.3 sealed so we will see. This box was really done more for looks than anything else,so I will just have to wait and see how things come out.
thanks again

Adding a port would be the most difficult route to take because You'd have to make sure the enclosure and port were tuned to the t/s parameters of whatever sub you had.....
