I'm planning on getting a Scion Tc in the summer, and keeping my current car, a 95 Mustang. in the Mustang I have a pair of JL 12W6 subs ( http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/8-12W6_BDS.pdf ), powered by a 600W Crossfire Amp ( http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?TID=30261&get=last ). Now since the JLs are duel 6 ohms, and the amp Max output is 600W, Does anyone know exactly how much power is going to my subs? I've been on many sites, and they say something different all the time, so I was wondering if anyone here know anything about Crossfire amps.

And just to justify posting this on a Scion site, when I do get my Scion, I'm planning on getting a new amp for the JLs and buying new subs for the old amp, and I'll have two sets, one for each car (don't really know which goes where though).

with the subs being dual 6 ohm, parallel/parallel will result in a 1.5 ohm mono load.... series/parallel will result in a 6ohm mono load... series/series will be a 24ohm mono load....

some of JL's amps are really good with the dual 6ohm subs because they'll do a certain amount of power x 1channel @1.5-4ohms (you can use any load between 1.5 and 4ohms and get the same results)...


the amount of power going to your subs is totally dependant on your wiring configuration.... the main reason JL made the dual 6ohm subs is so you can wire 3 subs together to get a 1 ohm mono load or a 4ohm mono load....

It looks like 200 watts at 2ohms mono for the amp, 3 subs dual 6ohms, like sci_tc_guy said both subs ran in parallel and then VC ran in parallel will net you 1.5 ohms. Either that both subs VC wired in parallel then the subs wired in series will give you 3 ohms. The amp puts out 200watts at 2ohms mono RMS. With the subs running at 1.5ohms I would guess each sub will get about in and about 100-120 watts each. With the amp running at 3ohms wiring the sub in series will prolly net you 70-100watts per sub. Hard to say since the amp specs are not clear.

^^^ having the VC's parallel and the subs series will give you a 6ohm mono load, not a 3... paralleling the VC's on one sub will give you 3ohm, so 2 3ohm loads wired in series=6ohm
