Default My pedestal spoiler is rusting!

I went out into the garage yesterday (washed my car the day before) and noticed that I had what looked like soap scum or calcification from hard water running down my hatch from underneath the right pedestal on the spoiler. I looked underneath it and noticed that the seal had pealed up and stuck to the spoiler itself rather than the hatch and now the bolts used to anchor is rusting. Has anyone else had this problem with the pedestal spoiler or any OTHER parts on the tC for that matter?

not good. I have always hated how the water hangsout up in there then you drive and have water all over the back of the ride.

I know, that drives me nuts. You have a perfectly clean car, you go to pull it into the garage and boom, you got two water streaks goin down the back of your hatch. I tried my best to get all the water I could out of there, but I'm sure some remained.

I learned a trick to solve the water leak problem from the pedestal spoiler. Take a regular bath or beach towel that has been washed many times and pull the ends tight so the edge of the towel is thin and stiff as a knife blade. Shimmy the stiff edge of the towel into the slim space between where the spoiler is attached to the trunk (your hands should be positioned holding the towel on either side of the spoiler attachment). The thin edge of the towel should soak up all the excess water that gets stuck there. Repeat until you pull the towel out with no wet stain. I know, I have waaay too much time on my hands, lol. But I got sick of the water streaks too, and this solution has worked for me.

I use my air compressor and shoot the water out with an air gun. Works great!

alright, just so this thread can get locked, I took the car in for the spoiler as we know...The orange stuff (in which even the tech first thought was rust) was a sealant put between the gasket and the hatch and it was oozing out. So no rust, just oozing sealant. Also, I got my rattle fixed today :D (for all still wondering, in my car it was the shocks for the hatch.)
