Default Too many lights or not enough?

I bought a 2006 XB a few months ago. After much discussion with the dealer about what I was ordering (bottom line: The interior "lights" on the scion website. I wanted amber and the cup holder illuminators) and how much it cost (I figured I didn't care that much about the sum of 400 various parts. I wanted the price on the website), I had the lights installed.

I have amber under the console and under the front seats. And the cup holders illuminate. I had never seen reference anywhere to "under the front seat lighting". But it made me happy to GET it, so I didn't complain.

My friend liked my car. Bought one herself and asked for "blue" lighting.

She doesn't have lights under the front seats.

Did I get too many lights or did she get too few?

There is also a gapping place between her new blue shift **** and the fabric covering the stick. I pointed out to her, that if she looks at the picture on the scion website, there is most obviously a metal part missing there. She's going back to address that issue today, and wondered whether or not to raise the "missing lights" issue.

I believe the actual Scion kit is just under the dash and the cupholders... if you got more, they may have used a different kit.

I bought the dealer LED option (not the cupholder, but the interior LED's). Mine came with 2 acrylic tubes mounted underneath the dash and 1 acrylic tube mounted underneath each front seat to light the rear footwells.

It sounds to me like your friend only got half of the kit - which is WAY overpriced to begin with. It's the only dealer option I wish I hadn't purchased.

Can't have too many lights in an xb, especially since its underlit. I make custom LED boards, and they look great!

It lights up very nice!!

I got mine from superbrightleds.com. I don't remember how much they were, it was under 30 shipped for the dome light front and back and both map lights.

I got just the "Light Kit" and they gave me 4 tubes 2 up front and 2 in back. Then they said a part was missing because it was not lighting up very much. So two weeks later I went back to get the part and they said they fixed the problem they haden't so I get under there and they had the tubes upside down. The tube has clear and has a reflective side, they had that down so no light came out thats one reason I hate scion of wilmington.

I just don't understand that. First off there are instructions for the techs to install this ____, and second.........duh. My first or second week at Wilson's we got two xb's that were getting lights on them, so I ordered up the parts. We got them in and right off I knew something was not right. They sent us a kit for the front and two end caps for the back. I looked at and plain sense told me that it was not right. Where were the rear tubes? ERG!!!!! Sorry to vent off topic but people who dont think for themselves bug me.

Yea I know also they said that getting Amber was discontinued and that they had to pull up the parts from many different dealers just to make this one set. Is this true? And another thing Wilmington did was mess up my dads auto dimming mirror in his car, because some how liquid got up in it and it went half dark half light. They refused to fix it and they scrached one of the windows tint also not taken care of. They last time I was near another dealer I got my work done there not down here. Oh yea you got the right amount of tubes your friend got ripped off.

I have not yet heard anything about amber being discontinued. We have not done one in amber in the time I have been there, which isn't long, but I could check on the amber thing tomorrow if you want.

The original lighting packages available were different from what is out now. The l.e.d. lighting and the cupholder illumination were seperate part numbers before. The l.e.d. kit then contained 4 tubes - 2 footwell and 2 under seat. To get the cupholder lighting was a totally seperate option. Now in the lighting package you get the cupholders and 2 footwell l.e.d. bars.

I think what may have happened to the O.P. is that he got the original packages(some are still out there) and his friend got the new package.http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...4&parts_id=726 which doesn't get you the under seat lights.

First I gotta say good info dougalast. As far as the amber goes, I talked with my manager today and checked out all the toyota info and there is nothing about doing away with the amber lights. NC I think you were just given the run around on this one. And last but not least WhiteBlazer, got a question for you since you seem to be pretty handy with leds, do you know of any thing that I could hook my leds into to be able to program patterns and such?

Sure, there are a few different ways to go about doing this (depending on what you want). you would need some sort of integrated circuit, which would tell the led to turn on and off. there are oscillators, which provide a voltage and sends commands to the led's, and there are bar graph displays, which measure an external voltage source, then sends the signal according to the voltage.

I think there are some kits at some electronics hobby shops (i.e. radio shack), that would be great ways to test out the parts and see how they work.

hope that helps!
