View Full Version : HELP!! TRD knob won't screw on tight! Scion-ce 05-19-2006, 11:29 PM I have the Creative Compacts short shifter and I just tried to put on a TRD knob and it won't screw on tight. It feels like it is then it just keeps spinning. What do I do? jimmydenfield 05-20-2006, 04:36 AM the cc short shifter likes the thread out shift knobs.. my stock knob and other knobs were threaded out... so basically its constantly spinning because there is no longer grip, there is no locking mechanism. Dang shame because the trd knob owns. The simple solution is buy a shift knob, with ajustable internal sizes and etc. thanks 2_much_tc 05-20-2006, 04:47 AM that sucks ___, and then the knob is like 50 bucks. 2redgerm6 05-20-2006, 04:50 AM you could try throwing a thin piece of plastic or metal around the threads and thread the knob down onto that. try aluminum foil folded like 20 times over or somthing like that. ThePerchik 05-20-2006, 05:24 AM Use a few layers of plumbers tape. THat white plastic tape.... DarkApathy 08-01-2006, 06:27 AM Here's your solution Scion-ce. Remove the plastic and foam washer from the shifter. There's a pic of it in this thread(6th picture from top) http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36452&highlight=install+short+shifter+twm After reading about your problem, I went to screw on my oem knob and it did the same thing. After messing with it awhile, I noticed if you removed these washers, it allows you to screw on the knob tight like it should be. Here's a pic of what I removed. That should do the trick. Good luck. http://i7.tinypic.com/21m6z9s.jpg |
