Its all about "how slow do you wanna go."

The most I have gotten in my auto is 361 miles in one tank.

Life is very different in the slow lane :)

The most miles I've recorded was 359.3...

Since I recently got 18s... I don't see myself breaking that record anytime soon. :P

Larger rims will actually increase your mileage, as the engine is turning less RPM's. This is presuming that the total circumference (measured around the tire) is larger than stock 15's circumference. Many people who install larger rims subsequently run a very low profile tire, thus the measurement is nearly equal to stock. FYI only.

not entirely correct.....unsprung weight...and the more power it takes to turn the larger diameter wheel usually result in worse mileage...mine dropped 4mpg when I went to 18's

Ok, so my xB is still pretty new, but I have not even hit 300 miles on a tank... (automatic) The question is how far can i go after the gas light comes on? Have you had a greater than 10 gallon fillup???

I've had an 11.746 gallon fillup

Jerome, that is good to know. I will be pushing it much further now... I feel like a rookie. Thanks for the info.

Just to let you know my MPG started to increase after about 3-4K or so... at about 6K now...

Thats a valid point. Thanks for bringing it up. I concur on the unsprung weight, however most aftermarket bling bling rims are lighter in weight than a stock steel wheel/tire combo. I presupposed that the said aftermarket rim would be lighter in weight, therefore less rotational mass.

Compared to the vast array of wheels available there are relatively few wheels in 17"+ diameters that are actually lighter than the 15" steelies. Unless you consciously look for a lightweight wheel chances are if you get 17s or larger you are getting a wheel and tire package that is heavier than stock.

356.9 is my greatest feat on a single tank. I don't like driving with the gas light on, makes me nervous.

Ya, I drag race a ten second Nova wagon, thus I am very conscientious of overall vehicle weight, but then again, I dont run 17" wheels on it either.......

I've never measured how many miles I've gotten by tankful, cause I nevert let my car dip below 1/4 tank...but by calculating between fill ups- the best I've ever gotten was 38mpg. <--Of course this can't be exact, but I can guesstimate it to be a give or take 2mpg thing.
That was only once...no high shifting, no AC, just babying it to see how far I could get.
My usual average is about 32mpg.

A little side note: I've noticed that removing my fogcover in front of my injen gives me a slight gain in higher RPM acceleration, but not as much gain in acceleration as it lowers my mileage...without the cover, I average about 28MPG...interesting.
