Default RS1 Rim Complaint

This was brought up by a friend at a car show a few weeks ago. Have any of you RS1 owners out there taken a good look at your rims? I have seen on a couple of different occasions where Scion decided to go cheap on painting the rims. It looks like Scion took the 18" TRD rims, switched out the center caps, and did a bad job of painting them. On my rims, they look great on the "spokes" and "outer lip". However, if you look in the holes for the lug nuts and the back lip of the rims, they are the same color as the TRD rims. On mine, you can even see where the overspray got on the rear lip and the "spokes" prevented it. I will try to snap some pictures sometime to show everyone what I mean. You RS1 owners out there, check your rims and see if they are cheaply painted as well. I love the rims, it just bothers me a little bit that they would do such a haphazard job of painting these nice rims.

I don't think the ones you're referring to are actually TRD wheels.

They look exactly the same except for the center cap and the color.

Aren't they just the optional 18" EMX Super 7? Not actually made by or branded TRD.

But they are sold as the TRD option I believe.

At any rate, they still did a crappy job of painting the rims. Anyone else notice this?

The multi spoke TRD wheels are made by Racing Hart where as RS 1.0 rims are made by Enkei and they are the accessory wheel EMX super 7 painted graphite or whatever color they are.

their enkei's!

Enkei EMX Super 7's to be exact! anywho, have yall had this problem?

kinda sucks! Not really noticeable but still. im thinking of powdercoating these to get rid of that! i havent popped off the center cap besides when i got these installed? i wash these with a light rag, no wheel or rim brush? Yes i know its a 16k car, but this is "Enkei"! makes you think on how much work they put into their rims?

Yea, I noticed the cheap paint job too. What do you expect. Look at the RS2.

Mine where the same way, One side looked silver and the other side looked black. I took them back to the dealership and they ordered me to more wheels. Now they all match, but I had to give the old wheels back ('') At least they all match now. Had I not taken it back the day after I got the car they may not have done this for me. Its a good thing im really picky about stuff like that.

i bought the emx rims as an upgrade from dealer, cost 1069 with pirrelli tires. i havn't noticed any defects in them, but i'll check... looks like scion cut a lot of corners to reduce price on this car, sad
