Thanks, I can’t wait to get them on. I am actually looking forward to the installation, it looks to be a blast, in a good way.

What size rims are you running on your Teins?

I would not adjust your coilovers all the way down unless that is the look you are going for. They were not designed to be used at that ride height w/ the standard rate springs. I have had Teins on three different vehicals now and I have found that there recommended ride height always works the best for performance. My first set I had on my Civic, I adjusted them all the way down with my 18s. It looked real good but performed like crap. I would strongly recommend using the the ride height as stated in the Tein manual. I am in no way telling you what to do I know many people will tell you to "dump" it but I am just giving advice from experience.

Thank you for your input, even if the ride height sites to high. It is not likely I will deviate from the manufactures setup guide for the tC. I will also want the system to have a break in period, slamming would not allow the system to make this transition properly.

After the initial break in period the tC goes for a 4 wheel alignment. Then it goes to the race shop to have the tC put on scales for corner balancing. I’m 6’3” and weight in at 205 lbs, which is some serious driver side weight basis.

the higher up the car on these coils, the more preload there is on the spring. find a nice medium, i found the settings it came with were fairly nice, a bit lower will give your spring less load.

just wanted to tell you welcome to the wonderful world of adjustable coilovers man. i have the exact same set up. add a set of front and rear strut tower bars and you will die of happiness.

i have mine fully lowered front and rear. i think it looks incredible and handles just as good as it looks. this might not say alot for others not in my area because on ramps are all different, but i can take an on ramp at 60mph and the tires aren't even barking yet.

enjoy.

Have the coilovers in and they are great so far, have it set on a light setting for now. Today I was able to get the ride height taken care of that I liked. Now I need to get the EDFC installed and set up. I should have more pics and a right up on it.

i got mine from houseofscion.com

scott i know its a little late to tell ya this now but you should've put the edfc's on before you fully installed the coilovers. the front shouldn't be a big problem but you will have to take out the rear or you wont be able to install the edfc box.

atleast now others will know.

It appears from Greddy05tc that the rears will be coming out to install the controllers. I have a macro lenses that will allow me to get some close up pictures. I will shoot a variety of them in and out of the tC and post them when I am done.

i mounted mine in the pocket of the center console. i can't wait to get my carbon fiber kit from firmware.com so i can mount it in the pocket deleat panel that comes with it.

i ran the wires from the rear up the middle. i had the rear seats out along with the center console. that is about the best way i thought to run them so that they are completely hidden and you would never have a clue they are there.

Let me start by saying WOW! These are great coilovers, to have the electronics to fine the suspension while on the fly, priceless!

The installation of the electronics is pretty straight forward when it comes to running wires and mounting electronic boxes, the EDFC power install is a simple 4 wire hookup. The cables provided by TEIN have Molex connections with very strong locks, it is not likely they would ever pull apart. The cables are insulated in a thick heavy black jacket. The cables are soft and bend easily, none of the hard casing and stiffer wires that make it difficult to work with. The cable lengths are pretty much right on in length, I was not stretching and I did not have bundles of wire left over.

The front coils do have the room to install the motors, the rears do have to come off. Luckily taking the rear coils out is not much longer than changing a tire. The install of the motors are easy after the first one and only took about 5 minutes to do each one after that. The trick is the rotation of the motors while making sure the adjustment screw does not bind. The owners manual is very clear on the process and it is pretty much dead on.

The one caution I might have is when the motors are being screwed on to the coils. The threads on the coils are very sharp with not much tapered thread guidance, it would be very easy to cross thread the motors on the coils.

The cable install is really plug and play, each cable is clearly labeled with identification tabs for each corner of the car, the Molex plugs only go together one way. The EDFC controller is a simple plug-n-play and wiring is a basic power, ground, switched 12 volts and illumination wires.

Reassemble the car and at this stage you’re pretty much done, the rest is programming the presets and go have fun! Enjoy the pics, I hope this has been helpful and informative, if you have any question please post up.

yes to those of you wondering when i first installed my coilovers it was the first time i've ever installed a set with the camber plates. when i installed them i didn't think about it and just slid the top in place and tightened them down. it wasn't until after i took the pictures that i realized it....lol.

i keep meaning to get in and turn them the way they should be but i just haven't had the time. i work second shift and for the last couple of months i've just been to busy on the weekends to do it.

good news is i'm going to do it this weekend. i have to get my car ready to go to import week in ocean city maryland. i have a few loose ends to tie up with the car and get it cleaned up.

feels nice eh? i love mine

one thing i wanted to ask...in the last 2 pics, the EDFC shows values of "25" for front and rear...is that right? mine only go from "00" to "16"

hopefully i'm just seeing things...

That is the EDFC PLUS!

I’m playing, :silly: I set it on the 32 level adjustment and not the 16. Yes it is sweet and love it!

- i thought the SS-P's were meant for only 16 levels, as the Tein manual stated that "Use only level 1-16. Exceeding level 16 may damage the damper". i didn't even know it was possible to set the EDFC to reach level 32 on our SS-Ps. mine just beeps and doesn't go past level 16.
how did you set the EDFC unit to 32 levels?

- although you just got them installed, have you noticed any problems from setting it beyond the recommended levels?
i'd love to have the ability to adjust 32 levels, but just don't know how practical it would be...

thanks.

ScottsdaleTC
06-08-2006, 02:54 PM
The 32 level is equivalent to the 16 level, my 24 is the same as a 12. The 32 technically allows for half level adjustments.

The 16 level is for full point adjustment. The 32 level is for .5 adjustments allowing for finer tuning options. If I wanted a 12.5 dampening this would translate to a 25 setting on the 32 level adjustments.

Power the EDFC off, then power it back up and after the motors ZERO out on the display hold both the plus buttons for 2 seconds. The display will now read 32 level.

interesting. doesn't it 'click' into place for each level of adjustment. leaving it in a half step may or may not cause it to move with vibration. i guess the edfc motor puts pressure on the adjustment screw.

ScottsdaleTC
06-10-2006, 12:06 AM
The adjustments for the coils are determined by the depth of the set screw in the picture here. The EDFC motors are smooth and rotate the set screw in and out of the shaft which is controlled by the EDFC controller. The controller when first fired up rotates the setscrews to the hardest setting. Then it is up to you/EDFC to back off from that position.

The coils with out the EDFC motors use similar set screws that have to be changed when using the EDFC motors. The tops of the shafts have a “detent” lock that when turned “clicks” to the next location setting the position of the setscrew. This mechanism is used to keep the variable set screw from seating all the way down the shaft or vibrating out.

do these work like airbags then? Lower and raise height? or does it just adjust the camber?

shinkuu
06-10-2006, 05:42 PM
neither. it adjusts dampening. i noticed when i had mine, from hardest, i can click it back as many clicks as i wanted. there was nothing to stop it from going past 16 clicks which should be softest.

i know this is a 2 year bump but i was wondering what scott meant we he said that the rears had to come off?
