Default 6/19 update My Blaupunkt/Elemental Designs/Knukonceptz build

I am starting a new build progress thread. I have everything I need for my system now, I just need the bloody car to get here (dealer said next week)....

Here are some pictures of the stuff on my bed (my wife let me put it all up there for a pic...she picked the flowery bedspread :D )

The gear is as follows:

Blaupunkt Monterey Head Unit

Elemental Designs eDi 6000s components

11Ov.2 Elemental Designs sub

2 NINe.2 amps

Knukonceptz power wiring (4awg>>fused distro box>>8awgx2>>amp>>8awg grounds)

Knukonceptz speaker wiring (12 gauge for sub, 16 gauge for components)

Knuknoceptz Krystal RCA cables

Crimp connectors provided by parts express

Heatshrink, wire crimper, electric tape, ect. from home depot

50 sq ft of eDead v.1 from Elemental Designs (sound dampening material)

I am custom building a sub enclosure using 3/4 MDF
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ill update the thread as I get more done...first step when I get the car is to install the HU (I asked the dealer not to install the factory one) and to install the eDead.

Let me know what ya'll think! :D

You've got them currently hosted on the St Cloud State student server...I mean yeah...if you want to give us all your e-mail/password, that'd work

Default UPDATE 6/13/06 [PICS]

EDIT: Huge pictures removed

Well, I finaly got my xB! Woot.

Did alot of work over the weekend.....

installed the blaupunkt monterey hu, but didnt get a picture, ill post that another time....

here is the false floor with sub box and amp rack.....thanks to my granpda and his woodworking abilities.....I still have to level it using shims and then im going to carpet the whole thing...put some wire mesh over the speaker enclosure and carpet over that too so all youll see is a floor....its two sections, removable...what do yall think?

the amp rack sits under the left side of the false floor and is made out of some boards with holes in em for venting...still need to secure the rack :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

eDead install

I put edead in the rear hatch and have done 3 of the doors...heres some pics....my hands are cut up and my back hurts like a sono___un, and it took forever, but it was worth it :D

anyway, tonight im going to install alot more hopefully, and if I do ill post pictures....i hope to get the install done by the end of the week *fingers crossed* I have no work, just install all day... :D

ohh, I am looking for material to carpet the floor and boxes with, any suggestions?

Your fabrication skills are very good. The enclosure and amp rack fit nicely. My only suggestion would have been to use MDF in lieu of plywood. The main reason is that plywood isn't a uniform thickness and density throughout and can resonate. My first sub box was plywood and worked about as well as a lead baloon. BTW are you finding out as well that matching Scion carpet and vinyl seems to be impossible to locate? Mark

I used plywood since it was free...

I build the enclosure at my grandpas over the weekend and figured, what the hey, I would give it a try...

so far the plywood is fine....

if it starts to suck or something, ill build another box out of mdf... no biggie, just have to rewire it...

also, in a year or so im gonna try my hand at fiberglassing something....well see

as far as the carpet, I just got walmart automotive carpet because it was cheap and easy...I would have liked to match the interior, but ive heard its hard and this carpet looked alright to me...so I just went with it. :D

I am glad you like it...the whole install acomplished my main desire which was a stealth (as much as possible) look...I feel like i hit that...thank you for your kind words

Indeed, only thing would be the MDF.... did you seal up all the joints so NO air can exit the box?? that'd be my only other concern... other than that, great products, great job

yes, all the joins are caulked inside and out...i used weather sealer under the speaker mount.....it worked ok, but there was a little air getting out around one of the screws I put weather sealer over it and it seemed to help)...not much air though :D

Yup.

The woman wanted a magazine and we were near St. Cloud....I kept picking the gas stations without magazine racks...ended up pretty close to your place according to Google.

I love what you have done here. Congratulations. I am working on fiberglass right now, but it is my first time so it is more for the learning experience. It is fun, but messy and stinky. Love your setup, keep up the great work and I will share how mine turns out too.
