Default Simple gas mileage questions

okay so i'm a newbie to scions but a veteran to car forums so I am very much aware of flame fests, newbie attacks, and the ever so popular phrase, "use the search".

I will tell you all straight up that i did search and could not really find much info on what I was looking for.

Simple questions(and please, if you have nothing productive to contribute, please don't post. Thank you!

-What RPM are you at while going 80mph?
-How many miles per tank to you go through? (please indicate your driving style and city/hwy %)
-Please indicate whether you drive and automatic or manual.

Thank you all! I am sure this information can be useful to many, especially those who look into purchasing a TC.

BTW, I am coming from a MKIV VW GTI VR6 and I know what crappy gas mileage is

- at 80 mph, you will be at 4000 rpm in a manual in 5th gear
- at 80 mph your will be at 3000 rpm in an auto in 4th gear

I get around 300 miles per tank, and fill up about 12 gallons at the pump. I average somewhere around 22-26 mpg. ( I have an auto)

hope this helps

I have a pretty heavy foot, I accelerate quickly, and drive mostly highway. My average speed is between 45 and 65 mph

I have a manual. I get somewhere from 250 miles to 290 miles per tank. I average about 23 mpg. I have a very heavy foot, accelerate quickly most all the time, and average (because of the location I'm in) 55mph on most roads (county roads, city roads, etc.) and 70-80mph on the interstate.

Wow, from the looks of it, it seems that the tc is not quite the best gas saver out there.
- Can someone who drives a manual confirm that they are at 4000rpm on 5th while driving 80mph?

-Also, can someone who drives an auto confirm 3000rpm on 4th while driving 80mph?

thanks all. All these bits of information is important to me before making my purchase.

ONE more thing Can someone WITHOUT a lead/heavy foot reply on their gas mileage? Thanks you again[/b]

i average 27-29 mpg. 50/50 city/hwy. and 80 of that hwy is traffic about 30 mph.

i have an auto, rpm at 80mph for me is a bit over 3k

i don't have a heavy foot...don't really accelerate rapidly, i fill up when i have 1/4 tank left and usually get close to 280 and about a 10 gallon fill up.

not the best vehicle for gas saving but to me it's fun and economical. it all depends on how you drive.

I have the manual and I can't say for sure but 80mph I think is just shy of 4,000rpm maybe around 3800. And I do probably 60/40 highway/city. And over the first 6000miles have averaged 28mpg. I have even gotten over 400miles on one tank before filling up. But I do drive like a grandma most of the time, but time to time burn the tires and accelerate hard.

Manual. Heavy foot. I get about 22-23 mileage most of the time. If I go straight highway cruising I get it up to 30. If I draft behind my parents trailer goung 70 I get much better mileage

I want to say 80 mph is about 3800 rpm

3800 sounds about right. You think we would know this. I just drove 750 miles all highway this weekend. But I think I have short term memory. I am horrible with names to.

I have an auto and i get 29 per gallon. I usually refill at 350miles, and it takes around 12 gallons.

manuel, 23 - 25

275 miles - 310 miles.

23 = 98% city 2% fwy - 25 = 65% fwy & 35% city

light to medium foot

since summer started, my mpg got worst cause i dont have to go to school no more

and one more thing, driving 65 - 70 will save you alot of gas on the fwy, and switch gear b/t 2.5 to 3 (if you are drivng a 5 speed)
