Default trd supercharger question?

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times on here, but does anyone know what the MPG is with the super charger and what kinda of an increase do you get if you run a header along with the super charger.

Before getting the s/c, I averaged 25-26 mpg with a mix of city/highway driving. I have the manual. After the s/c, I now get about 24-25 mpg, so hardly any difference. It costs me about $2 extra a week to buy premium gas. I recently took it on a road trip (with the s/c) and got 30 mpg.

I don't have a header (or any other mods) on my engine.

And by the way, I LOVE my supercharger.

I was looking at puting the S/C in my tc when i get it, but my biggest concern was mpg drop. i drive 100 mi round trip to work and back 2-4 times a week (thank god for car pooling). atm my 318 5-spd gets roughly 12-15. if the mpg drop is only 1-3ish mgp drop, thats not that bad. may still look into getting one. along with geting the S/C are there any other mods that should go along with this, as for optimum performance.

I used to get 26-28mpg driving to and from work. With the charger, I have not dipped below 24, but usually end up at 24-25mpg. Really not much difference on the daily drive. Not sure what a header will net gain wise if used in conjuction with the s/c though as I don't and will not have one since it eliminates the primary cat. Hard to pass inspection/emissions without it there.

right before I added the s/c, I took an all highway trip and got 32.79mpg...Doubt I will ever see that again.

mpg with the s/c is really a matter of how often you run boost. Normal driving you stay in vacuum, it's only when you accelerate hard that you push into the boost range. Most of the time driving to and from work I am in vacuum or at 0. I am in boost when I am getting onto the highway, or having fun. With the cruise control set it never gets above 4 in-Hg. If you have a boost gauge with the charger you will see this.

I normally shift at around 3200 (about give or take) which should throw me into a few lbs of boost ..from what i hear ...correct?

that depends on the throttle position, but generally you will probably be at like 1lb of boost there...maybe 2. The further open you have the throttle, the more boost the manifold will see. Otherwise, there is a vacuum on the other side of the throttle plate which causes the bypass valve to be open, so your boost is being recirculated. Open the throttle more, and the vacuum disappears, bypass valve closes, and you GOOOOOO!

also, i know the TRD s/c comes as a whole kit, if i remember right it has a air intake with it also. does anyone know if you can still put an aftermarket CAI on with the s/c?

there's no aftermarket cai for the s/c besides some pos box that was in another thread here. it would not be good for the tuning of the car.

PINK, if you want to meet up this weekend and check out the supercharger and talk about the MGP and all, I live in newport news/Hampton. Im always looking to meet other scion owners, especially AP owners.
